I am in high school and i have always been into computers, and I enjoy working with them alot and i am in a career center program for computer programming and game design in my high school. I was planning on going to college for CS but ive been hearing all around the internet that that is a fucking awful idea and im not really sure what to do. I would ideally love to be in cybersecurity and just get my cs degree and do that but i dont know after hearing all this stuff about the job market. Whats keeping me thinking about it is i have an older sister who is a junior in college and shes a fucking genius and goes to an ivy league school and works with scientists i will not name to avoid doxxing and she has always given me great life advice and she is telling me that its all exaggerated and ill be okay. wha do you guys think?
The market is very competitive but good jobs still exist. Do you think you can handle that? Getting a job will take a lot of effort and drive, so will keeping one.Cybersecurity could be good but 1. Not a lot of job openings especially for new grads and anyone with < 5 years experience and 2. Usually requires a master's degreeAlso treat game design as a hobby, gamedev jobs exist but 90% of them will have you working on boring shit anyway and 90% don't pay well
