I'd ask this on a travel related site, but obviously they'd be biased so I'd like some sound advice.
My job is complete bullshit entry level office crap that pays barely above min wage. I hate it, but I've calculated that by June, I'll have roughly $60K USD saved up (only cuz I'm a leech) I was thinking of just quitting and taking a fraction, like 10 or 15K, and just traveling Asia for a couple months. My only problem is that I'd have absolutely no plan on what to do when I get back. I have a Bach from a meme degree and no real skills other than 3 years at this one company clicking buttons.
Has anyone ever done this? Is it worth the risk? I just want to live my life.
I'm 26 American male btw

fuck no spending a quarter of your net worth on a trip is never the right call

>entry level barely above minimum wage
Not like you'd be losing out on anything good by quitting then.
If you do do this you should plan for at least 3 months of "regular life" where you have no job but are paying all your normal expenses after you get back. Be prepared to work a really really shitty service job when you get back because it's what you'll get the fastest.

That would just be the overall cushion just in case. I could probably do it for a lot less, especially in SEA.
And I think I'm still young enough to where I don't think it would be too hard to recover starting at 45-50k. My job is bullshit anyway and I'd need to find a better one either way

Honestly man I would at least quit your job - especially if you would be able to find another with minimal effort. After a week or so of quiet you'll either still want to travel or at least have a better idea of what you want to do in the short-term.

Also consider I did 6 weeks in Europe for 5k in 2023, and 4 weeks in Indonesia for under 1k. Quality travel can still be found cheap. No need to spend anywhere near 15k for a holiday.

Like I said, I wanted a less biased source,
