I've been doing temp work at a job my cousin helped me get an interview for. I realised on day one that I hate the job, but my parents and shame kept me quitting early, and by the time Christmas rolled around I needed to have some money left over to support my mum after a surgery. It's now nearly March, and this morning before work, I got offered a contract with the company to work for them permanently, because that day I finished my training technically. I'm just not sure whether I should take it or not.The pro-keeping it arguments in my mind are:>It's a pretty good job to have at 19 years old financially speaking, I'd be making about £2.3k a month, unless the contract comes with a pay rise too, in which case I'd be making even more. >My parents would probably be livid if I didn't take the contract>If I take it, I'd have enough to move out at least, which is good because living with people feels suffocating. The against-keeping it arguments in my mind are:>The nature of the work just doesn't fit the kind of person I am. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, and the possibility of dangerous gas leaks at work is a persistent threat. >I don't get along with anyone there. Everyone there is very social, and I'm a social autist, enough of one to get chewed out by HR and the person training me for not "communicating" enough>The job stresses me out a lot. I stress eat after work because of that job, and I've started to put on a tiny bit of weight cause of that. >I feel like I'm one day away from going postal there>I could go back to education and maybe go to Uni, it's definitely not too late for that, and then later I could get a better jobWhat do I even do in this position? I hate that job, but I don't want to make my parents mad.
Bump, I'm kinda screwed here. I have to make a decision by tomorrow morning
>>34273456>>34273493The person who drew these has misread these animals body language. Yes keep your job unless you can get another job. Get things you practice after work or whatever to distract you from having nothing to do but eat. Have giant hot tea or coffee or whatever with fat free milk so you have something to boredly sip on. Save and invest.
>>34273565>Get things you practice after work or whatever to distract you from having nothing to do but eatI work an evening shift so I get back when most people are heading to bed, so that's not really an option. I'm a night owl so I don't mind it, but it means I can't really do many of my hobbies without potentially waking my folks up in the middle of the night. >Have giant hot tea or coffee or whatever with fat free milk so you have something to boredly sip on. I work in a cleanroom environment so that's just not an option for me, there's no food or drinks allowed in there except for water, but having to go to the changing room to remove my suit and then make the trek to the company bathroom makes it look like I'm abusing company time. And it's just inconvenient. >Save and invest.Wouldn't that be easier if I had a higher paying job? I'm still making less than the median wage per year.
>>34273584The hot drink is to have at home instead of eating too much. Work on hobbies before work and go to bed earlier or find quieter hobbies like drawing, but this is just a recommendation so you feel like your life has a sense of progress. You should get into the habit of putting as much away as you can, diversifying expenses, and increasing QoL for as little as possible. Also if you argue for pessimistic ideas to people you will struggle socially. Also I practice the piano with the volume down real low while I watch things at night.
>>34273591That's an awful lot of adjustments to make when I could just remove myself from the situation that's making me stressed... I'm not really one to change my routine just because. >Also if you argue for pessimistic ideas to people you will struggle socially.I'm not really worried about that>diversifying expenses, and increasing QoL for as little as possible. But if I'm not moving out (which is why I'd be trying to be quieter at night), what's the point of that? I have no expenses since I live with my parents.
>>34273604So you can have a better life for less money even if you live with your parents til they die. Look for a better job then and quit if you get one.
