pretty much 1:1 how its "going" with the girl i caught feelings for at work, except i escape her glance. she is always smiling at me but i bottled that shit for so long i just feel my face getting red when i run into her. on other days i can talk to her forever without issue & she always laughs about every bad joke i make.

In your case it's easy to link your behavior to your feelings because you're giving us the answer about how you really feel. This is different for the girl in my story. I don't know what is going on inside her head. She could act like that because she has a crush on me, something that I considered and it's why I made the thread, but she could also be feeling many other things.

Maybe she noticed that I was uncomfortable around her, what made her feel uncomfortable too, but since I'm fine talking to her she feels free to talk to me like she would to anyone else (most plausible theory imo).
Maybe she really doesn't want to be looked at by me but she doesn't actually hate me.
Maybe she really doesn't want to be looked at by me and she actually hates me but feels the need to be friendly.
Maybe she has some form of well controlled social anxiety and learned to relax specifically when speaking to others but still feels tense in other social situations.
Maybe she used to have a crush on me at one point and now she's a little embarassed because of it (I think this one could be true too).
