I currently earn about $138k USD before taxes. I have the option of adding some on-call work for extra money. Basically, for one week out of every month, I'd be on-call, and they could call me up whenever to fix any issues that may arise. The base pay is $1280/month (also before taxes). That's what I get just for being on-call, even if they don't contact me. If they DO contact me, and I have to come in, I'd get my normal hourly wage + 10%. So in one month, if I was on-call for a week and they needed me for 5 hours, I'd earn around $1675, before taxes. Should I take it or not? I'm an extremely lazy person and I don't like doing stuff. Plus I already have sleep problems, so getting my eight hours every night is hard enough as it is. But an extra $1,000+ per month is a pretty sweet deal, especially if I don't have to even do anything. I don't have any kids or debt, and I have very few expenses. My hobbies can sometimes get kinda pricey, although so far they've never been a problem.
>>34308528Depends how bad you need the money, but irregular sleep schedule messes up your health big time. Also consider that it would be only a 10% increase in your income for trading off 25% of all your free time. I would say go for it but drop it as soon as you start getting health issues.
>>34308556>Depends how bad you need the moneyI guess I don't really "need" it, since I'm already doing okay financially, but I mean more money is more money.I should mention that I have absolutely no idea how to do my job. They give me tasks, I usually don't understand them at all, so I ask someone for help, then they explain it in great detail and I just do what they tell me to. If there was some huge error that suddenly popped up, and no one was able to walk me through how to fix it, I'd probably never be able to figure it out in my own. Honestly, I probably wouldn't even understand the problem.
>>34308528No, you shouldn't take it. You should donate all your money and try being homeless. Or being of service to the homeless and less fortunate. Snob.
>>34308528Do it, the biggest problem is when you have kids and you may have to leave at any moment.
>>34308854I don't have kids, and I never plan to.
