I used to have severe dysphoric fear of rejection, I'd even perceive rejections in people's words that did not exist. RSD it's called. I didn't go the schizoid route though, my damage was the narcissistic route, superficial charm is what I'd use to avoid rejection. I'd fake positivity and fake being interested and fake my persona and fake everything to people please others so they would have no single reason to reject me. Problem is my pathology for this was a rejection of myself, because they'd never get a chance to know me, my true self. Which created a self created feedback loop of sending rejection, it was because I was the one who made sure I was rejected by never allowing myself to be me. The real ugly personality me. Thankfully I grew out of it and stopped being a narcissistic shithead. You're right though, childhood does shape us in very twisted ways if its a bad upbringing. Only reason why I became a pathological liar was because I learned it. I had to. Telling the truth about mistakes or failures or showing anything negative in my home resulted in chaos and abuse. So I learned that lying was preferable to honesty and got myself lost for a long time.
