>be me>36>never had a gf>dead end job (bartending)>have a worthless degree (computer science)>realize I'm never going to amount to anything>dog died a few months ago, now have nothing to live for>too much of a coward to anheroI literally have no idea what to do. My avenue to a decent career is gone thanks to AI, and I have no skills outside of writing code and slinging drinks at a shitty dive bars and college bars.To top it off I'm so depressed that nothing holds my interest so if I'm not working I'm just sleeping or lying in bed.And the loneliness, holy fuck the loneliness. I've tried dating apps but I'm ugly as hell and it turns out I'm not charismatic if I'm not behind a bar so the few matches I get go nowhere.I guess I'm part screaming into the void, part wondering "the fuck do I do?">pic related, what I stare at 40hrs a week
alcohol is a serious downer, so i hope your aren't drinking too much. if so, gotta cut that down. do you like tech work? if so and you're good at it, keep at it. there are niche fields that don't collapse every few years. i know someone who got into a software job at a shipping port, it pays only decent, but it's incredibly stable.
>>34329276Most I drink is if a regular buys me a shot or the occasional beer with a meal. I can't even remember the last time I got drunk.I have 2 years experience in software in the telecom industry, but that's gotten me nowhere. I can't even get an interview anywhere.I've tried applying for basic IT jobs but the only response back I've gotten is that my CS degree makes me overqualified.
>>34329251>dead end job (bartending)Sounds like you should learn how to operate a bar and save money to open your own.Otherwise, if you're happy with the pay, then what's wrong with working this job until you retire?
>>34331620It pays enough for me to cover rent and bills but that's about it. Also no benefits at all. Tips plus wage I'm at about $40k /yr, not exactly enough to save much money with how expensive rent and everything else is.The only real benefit is that if I lose this job for whatever reason there's always another bar/restaurant hiring.
>>34329287The job grind is a numbers game. Start applying daily. Apply to literally anything even close to what you want to do. Also try joining some social clubs to meet cool, new people. You work behind a bar so you're probably decent at talking to people. Look into courses online to get some certificates. The whole AI replacing coders seems like a meme that won't last. But you absolutely should get good at AI. Agentic AI is pretty big right now so look into that.
>>34329251I'm almost the same, except I'm from a third world shithole and unemployed
>>34329251>>36>>34329287>2 years experience in software in the telecom industry>applying for basic IT jobsif you're 36 with a cs degree why are you doing things a 24 year old would be doing
>>34329251Quit your job, leave your apartment, pawn everything you own, and go live on the streets as a beggar.
>>34329287>I've tried applying for basic IT jobs but the only response back I've gotten is that my CS degree makes me overqualified. And despite your degree you’re too thick to notch it down a little?
