I am struggling to motivate myself when the goal is not defined or even non-existant. Like I can grind in a game, work on a project at home, but when it comes to anything else...any effort not towards a pre-defined goal feels wasted and I do not get satisfaction for completing it. I can't motivate myself to go above and beyond either.

Maybe I'm getting selfish for focusing on my needs first. That's what people keep telling me, that I need to consider others first, but when a plane is going down, you're supposed to put the mask on BEFORE helping others.

Correct. Anyone claiming you are bad for putting yourself first are abusers upset they can't exploit you anymore. Just look at anyone successful and happy. They are all unempathetic assholes who will drop you on a dime the moment you don't do what they tell you. If you want to be happy in life you have to have a group of people beneath you that you can treat like slaves.
