>extreme anxiety since middle school
>nothing worked for 10 years, even meditation, exercising...
>no money for therapy and i think it's a scam anyway
>found xanax/benzos + kratom
>they helped me tremendous with anxiety, general tiredness due to overthinking
>4 years now and nothing has aided me more than benzos and kratom
>people all over the world saying it's the worst addiction ever, worse than heroin...etc
>literally life saver for me, never had to up the dosage, just makes me feel like a normal human being
>social butterfly on benzos, relaxed on kratom

am i doing it right by self medicating?
>>
I think that self-medicating is wrong.
If you need medication, it's better to visit a psychiatrist, so you won't make things worse.
I have depression and anxiety, and pills from my psychiatrist helped me a lot.
Therapy is not a scam.
>>
benzos always stop working eventually, so yes, you need a long term solution

I do MDMA from time to time (self therapy) and I'm afraid that SSRI's can mess with my trips.

Nevertheless, what's the major difference when one self medicates vs. with a psychiatrist?

>>34330707
they still work pretty great for me. it's been years and my tolerance has not gone up.
>>

The difference is that a psychiatrist knows what he's doing and helps with the dosage so that you won't get addicted.

But it's up to you anyway.

Medical student here.
> Never had to up the dosage of benzos
Fair play. It's incredible that you have managed to use benzos for 4 years without becoming dependent.
Most benzo users I have met developed a tolerance pretty rapidly and became addicted. If you ever find yourself slipping into this trap in the future, please taper yourself off. Benzo addiction is not pleasant and the withdrawals are even worse.
However, if it truly is the case that you are able to use xanax responsibly (e.g. you only use 1mg once a week so that you don't develop a tolerance), I don't see the need to quit. Many people are prescribed benzos long-term to help with extreme panic attacks/ anxiety.

Fpwp psychiatrists are retarded

OP only reason to visit a psychiatrist is to get it legally

>>34330740
Dont do MDMA, its neurotoxic and makes you dumber every time you take it. Just keep doing benzos and kratom you already said theu worked fine for 4 years dont go down the rabbithole of doing braindestroying drugs just stick to what works. If you want to trip do shrooms and nothing else

SSRIs is the worst class of osychistric drugs and psychiatrists prescribe them more than anything. They are lkterally subhuman scum, most MDs are

I used to use 0.5mg of xanax per day and when i switched to bromazapam it was much better for me. Just one 6mg pill daily, never upped to dosage and it's helped me a lot with appetite as well as socializing. I think I am in a rare camp, also, since I never had any trouble quitting cigarettes and i never actively seek to buy them but still smoking them socially (just because it looks cool) when offered.

Thank you for the advice!

SSRIs are worse by magnitudes than whatever you are doing right now. I know its been normalized in america to saturate people with them as a magical wonder cure instead of workling through therapy, but rest assured that in the rest of the world SSRIs are reserved for life or death situations or very severely ill people like Schizophreniacs.
Do NOT go to some pill pusher.

That said, Benzos have a high likelihood of fucking you up eventually. You get into some crisis, you need quick relief and end up upping the dosage. But I think as long as you are aware and responsible and use them sparingly it should not be an issue.

>MDMA, its neurotoxic and makes you dumber every time you take it.

Did you guzzle a handle of vodka every day, or how did you drop your IQ low enough to make such retarded statements? Your brain does need time to regenerate having all kinds of receptors firing on max after doing it, but occasional MDMA is not a problem at all. Continued use can do some damage, but not as long as you only do it as an occasional party drug.
>>

You have to be extremely careful mixing opiates and benzos, that is how people stop breathing. I guess if you have a standardized dose and it never changes, you would be fine. But I would try taurine before you ditch natural solutions, that stuff works pretty good.

Forgot to mention, also Holy Basil (Rama) works good.

You're lucky the benzos are working for you. They worked for me great for 5 years, but eventually I developed an addiction and was taking up to 6mg of xanax/day. I had my wakeup call last week. I don't know what my solution is going to be, but it's back to social anxiety for now at least. Please be careful you don't get addicted. Although, I was mixing them with alcohol to intentionally induce amnesia so I could forget my shitty life.
>>
>>34330671
I've never done stuff like that but I've suffered with anxiety too for a long time as well. It's made me an old neet. :(
