I recently got into photography and share my creations on a newly created Instagram account.

The thing is, I don't have many friends on Instagram since it's a brand new account, so not many people see my photos.

I recently started using hashtags, which brings in a few people to comment/like my photos, but not that many.
Any tips?

I know it's a bit ridiculous, but I'm a boomer who's discovering Instagram a little late in the game.

Ask on /p/ too.

you need to keep up with how the algorithm works
hashtags are a big no no since last year. it doesnt help you at all, the opposite actually.
make sure to be consistent with uploads and the algo likes carousel type posts, not just a single picture

just posting pictures however isnt very good for gathering an audience, its all about reels now
>reels
gathering an audience on the site, getting followers
>posts
creating credibility and adding ''meat'' to your page
>stories
staying relevant to your followers

You can skip reels but you'll have to get people from off the platform to follow you

there's tons of accounts giving good tips on how to grow an instagram account if you scroll trough the reels.

Thanks, I completely forgot about this board

Man that's a lot of work
I used to take the time to take one beautiful photo per week and edit it. I'm going to think about ideas for reels or stories that could use my photos.

yep
im in the process of trying to grow my brand myself. I try to post at least one carousel a day. I'd make reels daily too but its tough to come up with ideas to show off my product daily, and keep up with the editing etc.

Do reels get their own section on your page? I don't want to shit up my photos with random reels.
>>

if you upload a video it will automatically be posted as a reel iirc. I always post videos as reels trough the app so dont quote me on that

Yeah but I mean on your main page where you go to see your photos, will it just appear there like it was a photo or be put somewhere else? I don't want to fuck up my image flow since I do sets of 3.
>>
>>34331258
yeah it will appear there too, but you can sort the page as you wish so if you dont want to have the reels visible, you can just move them all to the bottom
>>

Really? I didn't know you could arrange posts, I thought it just went by date and that was it.
>>
>>34331270
nope, drag and dropp
>>
>>34331343
That's insane, I'll check it out. Unless it's app only, then I'm fucked, as I prefer browser.
>>
>>34331346
nah you need the app dude, for some reason instagram sometimes doesnt share reels publically if you upload trough PC
trust me I burned myself hard because I just kept uploading trough my PC
>>
>>34331353
Goddamn, I hate the app. I know privacy is a meme for Meta stuff but I just don't want it on my phone.
>>
>>34331363
yeah it sucks, but I think its a necessary evil
>>
>>34331363
NTA but could you get like a cheap smart phone that you could just use for that?
>>
>>34332311
Seems like a big waste of money for something I barely use. I might get a Pixel at some point as a travel phone.
