I got ghosted by a girl I reconnected with from HS years later, even though she came onto me. She said she was having a tough semester and started messaging me less and less until ghosting me entirely.Anyway, I really liked her and wanted to get an apartment with her. I use exponential backoff with people that are hard to reach. Double the time between messages every time I don't get a response. This minimizes the chance of becoming "that guy" while still giving people a chance to recover from mistakes

My ex disappeared because of some external issues and some traumas that happened outside of us. Unfortunately she was around some people who were really quite unhealthy for her and she developmental mental illness because of it. Her health went down the tubes as well looking dramatically older gaining a lot of weight in a very short period of time. This is only progress to get worse and worse. Eventually she contacted me and admitted what happened, how this person had lied to her and deceived her. It took her time to recognize that and then time to take accountability for not choosing me in the first place. She got away and moved in with me. She became healthier mentally and physically over time with me and now she is happy.
