newly homeless in Oregon. how can I get myself inside a psych ward or something? I don't want to sleep outside.
>>34337885wtf anon don't you have parents, friends or some relatives you can stay with?not from the us but i thought they had homeless shelters thereyou can also threaten to kill yourself if you want to stay in a psych ward but they'll probably bill you and leave you even worse financially
>>34338278I have no one, I had a mental breakdown and quit my job and ran out of money.
>>34337885>>34338278So this is what I'd personally do (and have done before actually). When you get to the psych ward no matter what they say to you keep saying you're feeling suicidal that you keep feeling suicidal no matter what and that you have plans to kill yourself in your mind every minute and that you will kill yourself the very second you get out. At that point if you're so insistent on suicide they can't legally discharge you because if you do end up killing yourself it'll look really bad for them.
>>34338317does the plan have to be detailed or anything?
>>34338337Not necessarily but it definitely helps a lot. More details shows them that you're not playing around and that you've thought of exactly how you'd do it and how you believe the world would feel after you died. Even better when you state what you believe your suicide note would say. Even better if the suicide plan is so oddly specific and personal that it just has to be true. So nothing generic or something you'd expect a person to say.
>>34338337NtaAnd you don't have to pay the bill. It'll eventually go to collections and then just don't answer those calls for like 3 years and it disappears.
>>34337885Go to a hospital and tell the employees you want to kill yourself or call the police and tell them the same
>>34338317You're only entitled to 120 days or something like that, after that they'll discharge you but if you have nowhere to go then they'll put you in a homeless shelter with a bunch of rules and stuff.
here's hoping this works.
>>34338420Might depend on where you live. Where I live you can stay up to 6 months but after 6 months they transfer you to the state hospital which is basically a more severe mental hospital with people who are extremely mentally ill who absolutely can't function in the outside world at all. Like I'm talking really stereotypical severe mentally ill people like schizophrenics who scream all the time non-stop for no reason, retards who play with and eat their own shit, others who have taken out their own eyes and permanently blinded themselves because they believe the government was using their eyes to spy on the world or some shit, etc. I've talked to acquaintances who have worked in those types of places before and they said that's what it's like.
