How does one actually join? I've been talking to a few recruiters and they can barely speak English. They say there's a "Contract" to sign but I have to go down to Lviv to have it signed.I'm super suspicious of that since I've been ghosted way way way too many times while job searching. The reason I'm doing this is because every job I apply to here just ghosts me. I want to sign a contract here and go down there, or at least have some guarantee they won't just ghost me when I'm down in Ukraine. Kek. This will be a good thread. Understand that a country at war will take anyone as cannon fodder, the second they lay hands on you then you're there slave and the law doesn't mean shit. You set foot in Ukraine or Russia even as a tourist you're likely to be kidnapped. A cash bounty is paid to anyone who Shanghai's a man who can fight. They might just drug you and dump you at a local barracks, that's not how regular recruitment works but in a war zone that's absolutely how it works. The salary of a soldier is like that of a tradesman, your gear, medical care, travel, all come out if it. So 3k a month is a pittance because if you're on a eight month rotation with 24k, you'll spend 5k living in county, 5k on gear, you'll walk out with very little. It only becomes worth it if you're a skilled soldier doing one rotation after another, just like a carpenter, nobody can make any money on their first job. I fought on both, in fact three sides of the Ukraine war, six if you count... well I was a mercenary. So neither a regular national recruit, nor a contractor. So I didn't stand around in a stupid shirt metal detecting people at embassies. Anyway, strongly recommend against getting involved in any kind of war. I've killed a lot of people, mostly stupid kids, cannon fodder, foreign mercenaries, shoeless Africans. Whatever you plan was, or mission was, or what you were told, someone like me will shoot you in the back of the head with a $1 bullet and your life ends there. You fall over, no respawn, no ceremonies, someone might drag your body off a road, or a truck driver might fear your body is booby trapped and just drive over you. People involved in war are either evil, or stupid. It may be a lot to ask of a stupid person, but recognise the people you're speaking to aren't stupid, they are evil.
