If you were working remotely, how would you spend your time? Kind of torn between building a business (currently it's a big time and money sink) or just forgetting about early retirement and taking classes, traveling, making art, and dating a lot. I just feel like I should be using my time productively. I'm late 20s.

how does one get a remote job, the job market here seems so fucked, all remote jobs (comfy bullshit jobs) only go to women and le people of color and are gay too probably
>>
>>34359612
you just apply constantly until it happens while building up your qualifications. It's a numbers game and takes luck.

thanks for your honesty, guess its over for me kek

Holy shit. As far as I've known I've always been straight but he looks kinda hot in those short shorts. On women the legs are the first thing I notice and on men I usually never do cuz they wear such long shorts but he's looking like a snack right here.

I've been working remotely since covid (5 different companies). A few things:

Building your own startup idea is sounds great but it's not easy. The odds of it succeeding are slim and you likely won't be getting compensated well for it. It also takes a special kind of person to pull it off. If you can't build a prototype and get a paying customer in 4 weeks, you probably won't be able to do either in even 12 months. It's really an innate talent that you either have or you don't.

Getting a second job and doing over-employment is also not really a great idea as you are just more tightly coupled to your laptop. It's basically the same as being an office wagecuck at that point, only you don't have a commute. It still sucks ass and you still have to work. The overemployment subreddit overstates the benefits and suffers from survivorship bias.

Remote sales seems like it would be the ideal 2nd job but nope, that shit doesn't work either, because contrary to popular belief, you do not set your own hours, your leads do, and when they call you, you MUST answer it, or you will never close. If a call clashes with your daily standup meeting, you have to choose. And both jobs come with a manager.

The only thing(s) that actually gel with a remote 9 to 5 would be daytrading and online poker. You have no boss. You can work any hours (although market open is best for daytrading), and there is no barrier to entry. You can start tomorrow. But it's hard as shit.

>daytrading
Only lost money with this despite how hard I tried, so I guess I'll max my 401k, IRA, savings and call it a day. I guess getting rich isn't in the cards for me. I'll try to at least enjoy my life for what it is.

I've started reading the backlog of books I've accumulated over the years and playing the piano during downtime at my remote job (IT really is just working hard for two hours and then lazing around for the rest of the day most of the time).
I plan on getting into solo game dev, but I've yet to bite the bullet on that.

I have found that even working remotely, my job takes up emotional energy so I can't even apply much effort outside of it. I am just wasting my life on internet and video games and a bare minimum of social hobbies.
>>
>>34362578
That's where I'm at fwiw, and I'm around the same age (early 30s). I'm saving enough to retire around 45, easily, and just kind of biding my time between now and then. 2-3 vacations a year, building an instagram profile, and possibly getting a motorcycle soon. The plan is to basically stay healthy and in shape so I can become a dilf and fuck the gen alpha sluts when they're of age.
>>
>>34362597
If you are emotionally drained and have low energy from working remotely then I can tell you right now that you need to disassociate more. You don't have an ownership stake in the company (at least to the degree that a private equity fund or VC fund does) and you are going to get paid regardless of what your dumbass coworkers do, so just show up, do the bare minimum and don't get fired.
>>
>>34362610
I don't work that hard. The problem is having to do the daily standup everyday with annoying coworkers, it wears on you. My favorite job was when we did everything via chat messages.
>>
>>34362593
Yeah, also averaging 2 hours of real work a day. Decided to spend today (was on call, bonus pay) just compiling a video of a town I went on a trip to last week and syncing every shot to a song I'm working on. Not sure if anyone else has done this kind of thing, but it sparks my tism. It's just satisfying to perfectly edit footage as concisely as possible. Also working on a travel guide for the town for fun. Might go ahead and do this for every place I enjoyed to visit.
>>34362603
>building an Instagram profile
what for? Are you treating it like a dating profile? I tried that before but it ended up being so much more effort than simply using dating apps and paying to filter out results and get seen first.
>>
>>34362612
At my last company, the 'lead' engineer was on chemotherapy and had hardcore short term memory loss, and the other 2 guys were in mexico and barely spoke english. All you need to do is CYA and if upper management asks wtf is going on, be prepared to throw your coworkers under the bus WITH RECEIPTS. It's that simple. Zero reason it should be draining you that hard.

And if you are the retarded employee then I don't know what to tell you because I am dead certain that I'm not retarded, so I don't know what's going on in your head.
>>
in my last remote job I fucked girls and played elden ring.
>>
>>34362617
The instagram thing is partially a hobby, partially for dating. I've gotten dates from cold DMs and it kind of helps for when girls ask for it. Watching Michael Sartain videos convinced me to do it but it's not as life changing as he makes it out to be. It is satisfying to get a good pic for the gram though.
>>
>>34362626
this was for sales, btw

I started teaching online, but it doesn't pay anything near it.

Id say with any job in this day and age, you should have some type of contingency job you're doing/lined up, something less than 20 hours a week.

I want to get into IT shit just so I can keep the remoteness of things but I just can't be fucked.
>>
>>34362633
Yeah, watched some videos of him years ago and I think he was proposing IG + larping as some beauty pageant philanthropy guy. It seems a little too tryhard for my liking. How do you usually find girls to DM? Just adding whoever has a pretty profile pic?
>>
>>34362657
Yeah, I don't do the preselection shit, or organize charity events. That's for when you are desperate to live like dan bilzerian no matter the cost. For most guys, good photos of your face, and showing that you have disposable income is sufficient.

Finding girls is easy. Just look up the location tags of the most frequented spots in your city. Parks, cafes, restaurants, pilates studios, that sort of thing. Girls are massive producers on instagram and are constantly going out and taking pics on girls night, after their workout, etc. If their profile is public and they don't have a pic with their boyfriend, they are fair game. Worst thing that can happen is that they ignore your message.
>>
>>34362636
The IT market is kinda fucked anyway imo. The supply vastly outnumbers the demand so any position that's worth the hassle is very picky with candidates (who aren't referrals).
>>
>>34362307
>I've always been straight
yeah bro you definitely don't sound straight. you may not be gay but you're definitely bi or pan at least
