Is vtubing wrong? My boyfriend told me a few weeks ago that I have a nice voice and that I should do voice acting. I thought about this and looked into some of the jobs I could get and I told him yesterday I'm thinking of vtubing. He froze and told me it's basically onlyfans without nudity and that it's just forming parasocial relationships with guys and taking their money. Is it really that serious? Now I'm not sure if I want to do it, is it something to be ashamed of?

Go for it! Most likely he's just nervous that you'll be successful.

Your bf has a point. No one really respects vtubers cause most are just guys behind the screen, and it becomes kinda disgusting seeing them "play" games or whatever, when they make money from horny degenerates that donate to them.
No one can stop you from doing it though, and it definitely pays well if you have a large fanbase, but you should start small and go into actual voice acting if possible.
>>
Vtubing is really cool and fun, I wish I could vtube. You don't have to be slutty, just have fun
>>

I mean that is what it is. Getting lonely people to give you money so they can pretend you know who they are.
At least prostitutes provide a service.
>>
there are certainly people who fall down the rabbithole, and end up becoming paypiggies for girls they have an emotional attachment to.
>>

I've dabbled in vtubing, but I'm a man and just did it for fun.
You have no idea what you're getting yourself into if you're going to try to make your first internet content creation endeavor your sole source of income.

If you want to be a vtuber, great, do that. But for god's sake, do it for fun first. See if you like it enough to make a career out of it before going all-in.
Your boyfriend is also right to point out that making a living as a woman in vtubing often entails exploiting lonely men on the internet for money.
>>

I don't really watch vtubers, but even I know that there are a ton of para social relationships between vtubers and their fans. Some if them are so extreme that people were fallowing when vtubers had their periods, so they can get pretty creepy. If you do vtubing be sure that you say that you have a bf, you can also do other things instead of gaming, since a ton of vtubers are playing games.

you actually have to have personality appeal to go along with whatever avatar you set.

if not, a nice voice wont get you very far.

>I told him yesterday I'm thinking of vtubing. He froze and told me it's basically onlyfans without nudity and that it's just forming parasocial relationships with guys and taking their money. Is it really that serious?
Your boyfriend is correct. I know a couple where the girlfriend went into v-tubing. She spends more time appeasing her fans than tending to her own relationship now. Their relationship used to be so solid, they were like this power couple. Now they're just this hollow sham of a relationship now.

Is it that serious? To the people who can see V-tubing for what it is (becoming an idol for lonely men) yes. To the people who participate? They don't think it's serious. People who make mistakes never think it's serious. If they did, they'd not make those mistakes.

>Is it something to be ashamed of?
I think so. Because reality is you will be creating a fake avatar and a fake persona to appease lonely men online, who are strangers and not your friends not your family not your boyfriend. And you will be doing it for money, which is why your boyfriend compares it to onlyfans.

It's shameful because it exploits lonely men with learning deficiencies or social deficiencies (spergs and autists) by taking their money to sell them a fantasy which keeps them stuck in life.

It's also shameful because you will be willfully making your avatar carry sex appeal. You will call it 'cute' but there's a reason the Vtuber avatars have titty jiggle physics.

And it's also shameful because you will voluntarily practice all of this to excite other men, completely strangers while having a boyfriend already.

And lastly it's shameful because all it will teach you in the long run is that the only way to get people to like you is to stop being (you). To become someone else.

I had a uni group member who I found out did amateur animeish voice acting online. felt kinda embarrassed for her but I didn't say anything

There are a few western vtubers that said that they have boyfriends, don't know how it affected their views. Still if people know that OP has a boyfriend then it might deter some creeps.

>t's just forming parasocial relationships with guys and taking their money
Where did you think the money came from?
>>
>>34363014
Mike you're a known faggot. You aren't qualified to advise anybody, go back to r9k where you belong.
>>
>>34362996
You are exploiting lonely losers and special eds and autists into giving you money by manipulating them via a parasocial relationship. If you're fine with that when go ahead, if you question the morality of it listen to your heart.
>>
>>34362996
He’s right but those loser men deserve to have their money taken from them anyways
>>

Mike and zach should get a room
>>
>>34362996
Just look at the guys who watch vtubers.. a good enough reason not to do it
>>
>>34363940
no, you can't say it if you're trying to rope in simps.
Is that what you're trying to do? No one is going to eject you from vtubing for not following the rules. It's all made up.
>>
A lot of people are basing their perception of "vtubers" on people working for corporate agencies who get tens of thousands of views per stream, and play an overly manufactured character.
you're perfectly welcome to just not do that. I follow independent streamers who get anywhere between 20 and 100 views, and pretty much just bring themselves to the table.

" i watch vtubers"

>He froze and told me it's basically onlyfans without nudity and that it's just forming parasocial relationships with guys and taking their money.
GFE is arguably that, sort of.
And it is true that even if you avoid getting anywhere near GFE, you'll still get thirsty retards trying to pity-maxx their way into your pants (lol)
But I wouldn't say Vtubing or streaming in general is "onlyfans without nudity"
You would need to make a choice though, admit to having a boyfriend or not.
Admitting to it would be a harsh numbers nerf but could filter out anyone who might have any delusions about you.
NOT admitting it is smarter form a "business" perspective, but your BF would probably feel pretty insecure about it and it's pretty reasonable.

Talk to him about it, Vtubing isn't defined as anything beyond streaming with anime avatar, it doesn't have to be anime-goddess-to-worship
>>
>it's basically onlyfans without nudity and that it's just forming parasocial relationships with guys
Every influencer forms parasocial relationships with their audience whether they want to or not, who cares?
>And taking their money
So? Donations are a necessary source of income for streamers, you're not at fault for how people use their money LOL
>>
>>34362996
just look at v-tube content, its usually a v-tuber reacting to videos of male-dominated-hobbies. its not pornography or anything, but it 100% aims to garner attention from lonely nerdy men and to form parasocial relationships.
its overall a job that should be looked down upon. droves of ill-developed men getting their positive reinforcement from a half-real anime waifu is distressing.

this attitude is one of the reasons the world is in the shitter

You're going to have to work.
Unless your boyfriend is going to support you for life you'll either sell your skills or your body. By body I mean something as stupid as stocking shelves and getting robbed by youths.
>>
Take a look at the vtubing community. It's an inherently sexual thing. Sexual avatars, sexual artwork, sexual asmr, etc.

Men will be on /vt/ calling you their wife. They will try to clip every moan and gasp you make and put it in a compilation. They'll make chatbots of you to ERP with.

Don't think "Oh. I'm unpopular so no one will do that." It'll be because you're unpopular that you'll have dudes thinking they actually have a chance with you. In some cases vtubers do end up dating a fan or a mod of their chat. The biggest vtuber literally married one of her mods.

At least if you're a voice actor you have a skill to master. If you succeed you can voice hundreds of beloved characters in your lifetime, having contributed to an industry.
