Would it be a bad idea for me to commission an artist to re-create my favorite doujinshi with me and my waifu as the characters? I feel a bit conflicted on it, but it might make me and her closer. I'm friends with an artist to does NSFW but I'm also worried asking them to draw me in an NSFW doujin with her might make them uncomfortable. Should I still ask them?

T_T NSFW artists are common as fuck online, so just pick one from deviant art and pay them instead of potentially ruining a social relationship. You could, at most, ask them to point you in the direction of another artist who they think would do a good job on the request, but make sure you mention it’s NSFW. If they feel comfortable undertaking the commission they’ll pipe up and offer to do it themselves when you ask for the referral, but it would probably still be better to get a random or anonymous to do it for you.

However, if you hang out with this artist, chat and do other things together besides you commissioning art, such as watching shows or playing games together without money being involved, then you are friends.In this case, seeing how it's not your friend, and just someone you commission from often, I see no issue with you asking them to commission this. If they aren't comfortable with it they can say "no." You can also give them an out by leading with "I understand if you'd rather not, but I'd like..."
