Never had a single gut health issue in my entire life, then suddenly around christmas I got weird symptoms, went to the hospital and tested positive for the flu. Felt like my stomach was being incinerated for 2 weeks, then low grade nausea, insane brain fog, weird neuropathy symptoms I've never had before like cold hands/feet and tingling in my legs, I'm just in a constant state of discomfort and discombobulation. Now my doctor's telling me I have GERD and wants me on acid reducers.I've literally never had GERD once in my entire life always been able to eat whatever I wanted without issues and had a healthy diet now I'm being told I just have a lifelong chronic illness all of the sudden. After my experiences in hospitals and doctors offices these past few months I DO NOT trust the medical establishment anymore they are completely retarded not even hyperbole. I want to seek out alternative explanations now. Why did I suddenly develop GERD? Did I have it all along and never knew it? Can I cure it somehow? It just doesn't make sense to me that I'm normal one moment and chronically ill the next, there must be a way back to normalcy I can't just have this shit forever for no reason that fucking sucks holy fuck. I was thinking maybe I have an allergy to these cats my family got recently and that triggered it. It genuinely feels like I got poisoned or something there's no way this shit can just happen randomly without something causing it. And even if something caused it, it should go away when that thing is removed no? Please plug me into some educative content or something outside of the accepted medical dogma w respect to GERD or gastro issues in general. thx
>>34367340Tea spoon of apple cider vinegar before meals (dilute with water). Ensure its got "the mother" in it. Also try some fasting to help give your digestive system a break.
>>34367340Chill the fuck out, take a course of Omeprazole, research your new dietary restrictions. Welcome to the club.
>>34367365i'm not taking PPIs bro fuck that. there has to be a better way
>>34367366You think a cat allergy caused this you should not be listening to your own intuition just take the pills for 2 weeks schizo
>>34367401what about after the two weeks smart guy?
>>34367421>research your new dietary restrictionsYou're experiencing aging. Congratulations.
>>34367462i'm 28 not 45 and my diet was already pretty restricted since i'm vegan it's not normal to have 'new dietary restrictions' as if i'm some fat retard who ate cheeseburgers his whole life i'm, aside for this random, sudden occurrence of gastric issues i've literally been the pinnacle of health and moderation that's why you're not making any sense right now you're just telling me i aged 20+ years in 3 months or something retarded like that. i'm looking for explanations that actually make sense, thanks.
>>34367470>28Yeah sounds about rightAnything acidic, anything spicy, caffiene, garlic, chocolate, also yes probably cheeseburgers, and for me for some reason pull and peel twizzlers. Maybe try looking for a list and avoiding those things for a while before you tell me I'm wrong lol. And eating regularly you can't be the kind of guy who doesn't eat all day and has a gigantic dinner.
Magnesium oxide is said to reduce acid reflux. Just wanted to mention it here because I read it somewhere once
>>34367340Probably being poisoned
>>34367545i never ate those things in the first place though idk what im gonna stop eating
>>34367340>>34367340I am in a very similar situation so I'll try to help. Realistically, if you didn't feel it for years it might mean that something inflamed the stomach and that it needs to recover to go back to "normal". For me it was due to binge drinking which reignited the GERD symptoms i had as a kid, lasted a lot but eventually subsided and now i barely feel it anymore, i currently eat pretty much everything. A few tips:>sleep enoughLack of sleep is one of the main triggers for me, whatever i eat i risk catching massive nausea. If you didn't sleep properly eat lightly>no alcohol and coffeeAvoid it all until the inflammation resolves, otherwise it'll keep it burning>medsI get why you don't like them since doctors are indeed useless shitheads but Omeprazol is really important to let the stomach heal, at least initially. Peridon was great for nausea for me, Gaviscon didn't do much>dietYou already know, but try to eat early at dinner and avoid lying down right after. Or break down the main meals into several smaller ones. Also, ginger can give you some very temporary relief. Drink a lot when you're far from meals>stressAlthough docs will attribute to it all of the illnesses you experience, it is true that it fucks up the stomach. Again, eat lightly if you're stressedOther than that, unfortunately i know no alternative. There's surgery as well i guess which is definitive but docs will only allow it if your case is truly awful
>>34367366I been taking them for like 4 years now. There is no other alternative for me, Ive restricted my diet to just chicken, some days eating nothing at all, still got heartburn. Maybe theres hope for you, but not me. I take a magnesium and iron supplement so hopefully it doesnt fuck me up too bad. Nothing to be done about kidney damage though. Although, my case is so painful its worth all those bad things. Life isnt livable for me otherwise.
>>34369843>some days eating nothing at all>heartburnYeah no shit dumbass
>>34369850oh hows that?
>>34369857Your stomach is still making more acid even if you don't eat. You're making it worse by not eating anything.
>>34370048people with functioning LES will not be affected by that. And GERD isnt caused by too much acid being produced. You shouldnt comment on things you arent familiar with.
>>34370114People with GERD don't have a properly functioning LES and the irritation is caused by stomach acid what are you even on about?
>>34367340parasite and toxin cleanse, look into chlorine dioxide
>>34370802how do i know for sure i have a parasite so i dont poison myself for no reason? i already did a stool culture test which came back clean.
>>34374614idk for sure but parasites and toxins cause about 99.99% of all disease. wont hurt to try. use binders for herx reaction like zeolite.
>>34374948not to mention malnutrition which is another big contributor. Ensure sufficiency in vitamin D, there is a epidemic in D malnutrition. K2 to balance it out.
>>34367340Have you tried just using Gaviscon? That might give you enough protection. GERD can actually be caused by a *lack* of stomach acid: if what's in your stomach isn't digested properly, it can wedge open the cardiac sphincter (the ring muscle at the top of the stomach) which lets the contents escape. Something like Gaviscon can shield the oesophagus without reducing acid levels. It's sometimes caused by the cardiac sphincter becoming lazy, and yes, that can develop quite suddenly.
>>34367340Disease modes are like a speedometer with inflammation thresholds once you’ve inflamed the body enough it’s very difficult to go back. You can try a few things that aren’t PPI’s such as Vitamin D, Thiamine, and antioxidant supplementation. You can eat Greek yogurt to try to settle it somewhat and if you believe it’s low acid there’s the apple cider vinegar method to improve the PH of the gut which you can read about online. I’ve heard that if it’s caused by H.Pylori or a couple other things you can knock it back with fresh broccoli sprouts activated with mustard powder to increase the sulforaphane content which seems to selectively kill bad gut bugs. You would have to grow your own in mason jars. Talk to your GI doctor and get tests done they can try to help you settle it with lifestyle changes there’s the slim possibility it’s a specific kind of allergy that only affects white people but if it’s really bad you might have to just start taking a PPI. As bad as it sounds most people take one the rest of their life and don’t have issues anymore especially if they improve nutrition and lifestyle. Oh and chewing mastic gum or drinking bone broth are allegedly things that can help
