I was able to retire at 37 because I sued my former employer for discrimination, got a big settlement and with a financial planner, I was able to set that up as passive income, so I don't need to work. My wife chooses to work part time to get out of the house. We have a 2nd grader and I've become the go to parent they can call for a chaperone or otherwise volunteer. Otherwise, I'm a house husband and I play vidya all day. Even after a year, my days do feel empty.
