i had posted this to /b/ a few days ago not realizing there was an advice thread like an idiot, so you may remember this. to cut it short, my parents randomly told me they were getting a divorce. we're thousands of dollars in debt, and i've only became an adult a few months ago. i have to go to college soon, and i have very expensive medical bills that i cannot pay for. i'm completely at a loss for what to do, and right now i'm just biding my time.

i also have a cat that i don't want to lose in the midst of this situation :( i think it will be very hard to take care of her while i'm alone during this.

Get this strasight: THIS STORY IS NOT ABOUT YOU. They are going through something that is FAR bigger than "random" and your only role in it is to avoid taking sides and be around to help pick up the pieces.

I don’t know how your country works. Go to your city hall, or equivalent establishment and ask them, is my suggestion.

>be around to help pick up the pieces.
Shit parenting philosophy. Parents should not have their children "pick up the pieces" of the problems the parents themselves have created. Even if their kid is adult it's still poor form.

why does OP have to pick up the pieces, this is not OP's fault for all I know.

(OP please don't kill yourself)

No one in the whole of history has ever got "randomly" divorced.
>>
>my parents randomly got a divorce

its not random. they did it because of you.
>>

Did they plan to cover the aforementioned expenses originally?
>>
Yup, obviously your mom isn't dealing with all these bills and decided to cut her losses before they get worst with you going to college and all (not worth it btw, ask anyone, they'll say trade school or being a vtuber is better).
Seems like a money thing. I recommend getting a job to help pay off those bills.
Oh and the divorce? Who cares, everyone is divorcing these days. Your parents are just following the trend, yo.

medical bills for what? please don't tell me depression drugs and therapy, as those are a complete scam.

Because his parents are going through something that is far FAR more traumatic for them than for him, and the one constructive and loving thing he can do is try not to make it any worse.
