I'm a former finance employee, got laid off because A.I can replace my bullshit fake work and my degree is completely worthless. I studied at an Ivy League school but a worthless degree (finance) that is now totally automated.

I want to go work in the Alberta/BC oil rigs. I've been looking into it and from what I claim they are short-staffed, are willing to take anyone who does their certs, but it has a high turnover due to people quitting. I believe I'm willing to power through it.

I need no-bullshit advice on actually getting this job, because every other source always initially tells me I can get any job I want... but then when I actually start applying or working towards it I realized a hidden caveat. I tried to become an investment banker until industry insiders basically told me "zero chance, you have no previous internships in banking", I tried to become a police officer but it turns out you need EMS experience and like 200 volunteer hours of community service, plus if you were ever laid off you're basically disqualified. I tried to become a prison guard but they ghosted me. I tried to become a factory worker but they rejected me right off the bat.

These were all jobs I was told I could get but then when I applied i was told to fuck off.

Sounds like you're too smart for those jobs. Pretend to be somewhat retarded and you'll get the job.

> a hidden caveat
These hidden caveats are typically called “qualifications”. It’s normal to not want to hire someone for investment banking who has no experience in investment banking. The same goes for being a policeman. Why would you want to have police that don’t even have EMS training?

The same goes for prison guard or factory worker. If you had any experience in those fields, even if it was indirectly related, you’d be a decent candidate. But you’ve been in finance for your entire career.

>Ivy League
No one wants some smart ass who thinks he’s too smart to follow orders or to handle menial tasks. I’ve met these kinds of people in the workplace and they are beyond useless. The companies you applied to probably have the same opinion of you. This is a common attitude in industries like construction, assembly line work, etc.

AI is a parlor trick and you should understand this if you were ever doing any real work/education at all (i can't imagine you went through an ivy league etc. very easily)
i understand the corporate retards who hired you might be fooled into laying you off, but you shouldn't ALSO drink the same kool aid
