fly-half on a rugby club that has a D2 and D3 side
>always play on the D2 squad for games and do well
>coaches and team have 'sorted' me into practicing primarily with the D3's even though i'm still playing D2 for actual games
>"oh anon you're patient and a good teacher, you go well with the beginners"
>beginners fuck up
>get frustrated but don't spaz out like an autist
>try to player-coach
>D2 squad is just doing their thing and actually enjoying practices
>my patience is running thin

how do i tell my team i'm done being anchors for newbs? no disrespect to people just learning but fuck me it's frustrating to hype myself up for our 2 practices a week only to just be held back being someone's mother theresa. i've had a feeling it's a sign they want to kick me down to D3

what do, is it time to quit and just focus on lifting?

have you considered the possibility of that you aren't at the level of moving up?

Because if you're sick of mentoring, only the absolute most talented top 1% completely abandon newbs to chase the brass ring because only they can chase at that level. Literally everyone else has a responsibility to develop the team to keep up with them.

You need to keep your second side up to a high standard if you want your first side to stay strong. If you have to drop down to play with the second side, they probably have a gap at number 10 that needs to be filled with someone of sufficient talent to keep the back line moving.
Pick one of your second side backs that seems to know what he's doing and try to develop him into a leader so you don't have to hold everyone's hand.

played a different sport but something similar has happened to a friend of mine. nobody here will be able to actually know if you're 'good enough or not' but one of two things could be happening:

1)
>oh anon you're patient and a good teacher, you go well with the beginners
>get frustrated but don't spaz out like an autist

I have played soccer and basketball with some absolute savants and they didn't have the patience or personality to work with someone shittier than them if you had a gun to their head. they got rewarded for being egotistical dicks because they were just that good you'd be stupid to not want them on your team. it very well could be that >>34385453 you are the best person to deal with noobs especially if you still get to *play* at D2 when it matters. it's basically you getting punished for being a good team player. kind of like when you're so good at your job so they give you more work with 0 extra pay.

OR

2) you're shit or got worse somehow, and getting replaced or 'eased into' sticking around with the D3 people and you got lied to with the 'you can help the noobs out' bit. up to you if you want to stick around for that or not. depending on how old you are and how much you care i dunno how much more of your time you'd want to keep investing

2)
