Do you have it? What's it been like having it?

I’ve had it for as long as I can remember. It isn't noticeable to me unless I'm in a soundproof room or extremely quiet environments. It usually lasts for about 5 to 10 minutes before it fades and I stop noticing it. Sometimes, when I’m lying down, I can hear it faintly, but that seems to be because the room is so quiet.
The only part that concerns me is that I’ve had what I can only describe as tinnitus spikes. While listening to something, the ringing will suddenly become incredibly loud, then fade away again within about 10 seconds. That has only happened twice in the past month.

Mostly interested in other people's experiences with it. If you did anything to address it or cope with it.

Always had low level tinnitus, never really knew I had it as I just thought it was brain static or something until a professional DJ I work with explained to me that it wasn't normal to have. I mostly tune it out, it's kind of like realizing breathing is self-concious and then conciously breathing for a bit before forgetting again.

That's good comparison. Depending on how bad it is, when you become consciously aware of it it feels like it's all you can hear. It's only until you stop thinking about it that it subsides.

Mine is usually like high frequency hiss. Listening to music or distracting yourself helps quite a bit. People also just learn to ignore it.

Sometimes annoying when trying to fall asleep, other than that it's fine. Lowers my quality of life a little bit, but whatever. I have bigger problems than that.
