do you think it's possible to effectively replace yourself (your appearance, your personality, your life) with that of another person? obviously you will never be an exact replica of the other person, but if you have enough similar circumstances, can a close facsimile be achieved? is it even possible to be satisfied imitating another person if you know you will never truly be them or live their life?

obsessed over someone i knew from ages 14-18 and tried everything to be like them but it came down to me enjoying interacting with others with my own personality instead of theirs and not being able to change my interests that made me give up

i've already been able to shift my own interests closer to the person i want to replicate, but i'm worried i won't be able to get close enough to feel satisfied. i feel like i'm missing too many gaps in the image i have of him to imitate him properly. if you don't mind sharing, did you feel like you knew your person fully? were they someone you could observe and learn from often? thank you for the reply

No, like 50% of who you are is genetics. That said, "being someone else" is a fake concept. "Being someone else" isn't something you can do just like "being the sky" or "being a river" isn't something you can do, even "being a chef" isn't something you can do, what you can absolutely do though is do the same things that a chef does, and maybe get the same accolades. That's enough possibility for change to entertain anyone for their entire life. You can be a musician tomorrow, a painter the day after, then a lifter, a dancer, you can wear a great many hats in such a short life.
