She’s Catholic and I’m Protestant. My family thinks Catholics aren’t Christian, and she would want her kids raised as Catholic. Is this just destined to fail? She’s perfect in every other way and was the one who approached me.
>>34395475noyour parents will come around if they're not retarded
>>34395475are you from the 1600s by any chance?
Which denomination of Protestantism do you follow? Are you reformist? That would be a problem due to theological differences but you could put differences aside (probably), you may have arguments about church attendance and such. If you're Anglican it shouldn't be too bad
>>34395475none of that shit is real anyways
>>34395530I was raised charismatic, basically an old-school variant of Pentecostal. I don’t like the idea of my kids being raised Catholic without any exposure to my side also
>>34395550Your "side" is heretical faggotry.
>>34395550>I was raised charismatic, basically an old-school variant of Pentecostal. My condolences.I think you should seriously consider converting to Catholicism.
>>34395550Then talk to you gf about raising them in both traditions somehow? The core tenets are the same anyway, just raise them Christian and go to Cath mass one Sunday and Charismatic mass other Sunday, idk.
>>34395555
>>34395550Eh, you and your family could attend an Anglican church because it was really made for stuff like this. Although if you believe in traditional Christian values you could probably try to be the one who 'wears the pants' in the relationship and force her to go to you Pentacostal church
>>34395550Damn, one of the most retarded denominations. You're the ones that go into a trance and start speaking gibberish right? LolBut no worries, Catholics have already copied that in an attempt to get more low iq latinos back into their churches, it's called the Catholic charismatic revival.
>>34395475Nah man, if this is the only thing stopping you, then (and I say this with all due respect) it should be a non issue. I know you probably love your family, but this is between you and this woman, you guys are the ones who get to decide what to do in that aspect, IMO. I really don't see any issue with Catholics and Protestants being together. At the end of the day, most parents just want to see their kids happy and well. If you two end up having kids together, I guarantee they'll be much more interested in seeing their son and grandkids happy and spend time with them, rather than being stuck on religious differences. They'll likely not even think about it much. So, don't be afraid to stand your ground if you really want to be with her.Best of luck to you guys, OP.
>>34395550>bro is charismatic sounds like a bunch of newfangled hippy bullshit if you ask me
>>34395550>I was raised charismaticKEK you're one of the retards who goes in the church and starts chanting "HOOBADABOOBALADOOBALYDA!!!"Hopefully your GF can de-program you and get you into a more sane variant of Christianity.
Convert to Catholicism and marry her... or if not converting look into it. Finding a woman that likes you and is good for you is hard enough, especially counting the number women who could have been your lover who were aborted out of convenience.Like, is she perfect for you? What are the chances that you'll find another perfect girl? Are you going to flit around with whores on dating apps and hobby groups like the rest of us? If you're a man, you should believe that you'd convert her (not that converting away from Catholicism is good).Anyways, do what God would do. If you believe you have the Christ, and that you could give her more of Him, then you should try to get her in spite of what your family thinks. Your parents grew up in a society full of choices. We're living in the aftermath, so if she's perfect in every way except for her religion, she really would be the best you can get.Beside, it's not destined to fail. I know a guy from my church (I'm Catholic) who married a Protestant girl and they're doing fine. She later converted to Catholicism though, so... either you or her would probably bend. Still, the kids would be raised Catholic and you'd have your chance to teach them what you know.
>>34395475>letting your family ruin a relationshipyou deserve failure, lol
>>34395475I can't imagine making any serious life decisions based on this antiquated religious horseshit.
>>34395475Just go for it. Be both. My ex was protestant, I kind of wanted to be both, he probably wouldn't have accepted it, but I'd still wanted to be catholic. Find a way to compromise
>>34395550>I don’t like the idea of my kids being raised Catholic without any exposure to my side alsolmaooooooo yes let's have thousands of years of tradition and ceremony and liturgy on one side and strip mall megachurches with snake handling and GOD-AH WANTS YOU TO BE RICH-AH on the otherthese are definitely two equally important influences for a child to consider
>>34396703> thousands of years of tradition and ceremony and liturgy on one sideNot since Vatican II
