Why is the rent vs buy argument a thing? How could you afford rent after 70 for up to 30+ years?
Your face when you learn property taxes cost the same as rent
>>34396281i thought property tax was like half as much, generallyi know you can dispute it with the town/city as well
>>34396240>How could you afford rent after 70 for up to 30+ years? How can you afford to buy if you never manage to save up enough money for the deposit?
>>34396240It’s a psyop so corporations can buy everything.
>>34396240> How could you afford rent after 70 for up to 30+ years? You can’t. Some of those people find arrangements where they share a home with other people.

>>34396240because the cost to rent is lower than the cost to buy in America now. you save money by doing the cheaper thing, there's no counterargument to objective fact
>>34396649>He doesn't know about equity
>>34396240Simply because rent inflation is still lower than money inflation. And buying a property is shit investment popularized by boomers. In fact all properties should belong to the goverment, and you only allowed to rent.Maintenance is 100% on you. That way you keep rent price low.
>>34396649Following this chart would this mean we can buy in 2034?
>>34402998Telling everyone to buy a property and forcing banks to give out mortgages to everyone is what caused the 2008 financial crash.Black guys with no money and trailer trash on welfare were given mortgages.
>>34402999Maybe, it has to correct itself eventually
>>34396240Rent payments are equal to or greater than mortgage repayments on the same sized property, but you get nothing in return at the end. You can't dig in the garden, you can't cut down the annoying tree, no point wasting your money to fix the leaky gutters, you can't raise an army of killer guinea pigs in the laundry, etc.
At this point in time you're definitely better off renting
>>34396240Property taxes and other such fees approach 50% of the cost of renting a place of the same size. Renting is a better deal than you think. The main advantage of renting is that you don't care if there's a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, or if niggers move in next door. You just pack your bags and go. It's not your problem. If you get a job offer in a different location then you just go.The downside of renting is that it does cost more. Not as much more as people think, but it adds up. Owning a house will be important if you NEED to modify it for whatever reason, or if you have kids and want these kids to have a permanent family home. At the end of the day, you should only buy a house if you can picture yourself owning it and living in it until you die. OR if it's strictly an investment house, to be rented out for profit.
