My partner is going to be deported soon, I am in canada, my partner applied for refugee status and had a valid claim, but because she's been here longer than a year due to new laws she was not eligible. I talked before about potentially getting engaged for status, she wasn't super keen on it and with both of our financial situations it wasnt that feasible for me to sponsor and support her but I still thought it could work. Now that theres a removal order from the failed refugee status application I dont even think we can do that.

We've dated for slightly over a year and although we've had ups and downs I really love her and this is tearing me apart. She isnt safe in her home country and im really scared about whats going to happen to her or if she will harm herself without her support network. I dont know what to do.

Speak to a migration lawyer ASAP. It will cost money, a grand or two, but they can find the route forward and execute the plan & do all the paperwork. You could do this yourself for free but it sounds like you both don't have much time. If you don't have the money, you borrow the money. Lean on your family for financial assistance and arrange a paying back route with them where you give them a bit of cash each month.

Form what it sounds like the engaged/spousal visa route is what it will take. That won't take much money, look up "lab grown diamond" rings. They're real diamonds, and even more higher quality than natural. But they're a fraction of the price because humans value natural ones because of scarcity. A diamond is a diamond. And a small wedding doesn't cost much either if you only invite select family.
The only other route is claiming asylum based on the fact her home country is dangerous potentially. Even if she has failed her application because of technicality I'm certain it can be challenged and her deportation date pushed back to allow for more time. But you need to speak with a migration lawyer ASAP.

Google your area & migration lawyer and pick up the phone

Most "new laws" have grandfather clauses that say if she applied under the old laws she can still be treated under the old rules even if new applicants have to follow the new rules

Then move to her country.

You can have co-sponsors in many countries so that you aren't the only one financially contributing. Your parents, her work. Also >>34400213, this. Hopefully she got herself into the system early on, but this is exactly how immigration law works in basically every country. And this >>34400109. A lawyer will be able to guide you and her through the finer points and help shelter her. If you're willing to provide sponsorship, and if she is truly in danger if she returns, this should absolutely be no hurdle for you both at all to make room in the budget for you both to afford.
