Whenever I get a large stretch of free time (holidays for example) my sleep schedule completely flips.
I go to bed at 6-10am and wake up in the evening (6-7pm). I always was a night owl but this is stretching it.
My problem is I just never want to go to sleep. There's always 'this' to do or 'that' to read/play/watch. Unless I'm literally unable to keep my eyes open, I don't want to go to sleep.
But then, I also love sleep. If there are no responsibilities or meetings to attend, I am almost unable to get out of bed. I'll snooze one hundred alarms I set the previous (same) day just to stay in bed an hour longer (usually end up staying five more) all the while lamenting the alarms are disturbing me instead of actually getting out of bed.
When there's work, a lecture or a club/friend meeting, I will get out of bed fine. There are promises I made and people waiting for me. But without those, I'd just rot in bed all day every day.
Could it be because I don't eat much? (goyslop fast food with canned nutritionally dense foods like kidney beans and mackerel once a day + snacks ranging from vegetables like cucumbers to the sloppiest slop imaginable)
I'm sure it's not healthy but I eat... enough for my weight. And when I eat too much (when I go out and get actually healthy food) I feel even sleepier.
I need to fix my sleep schedule. But I heard that pulling an all "nighter" to go to bed at the right time can cause hypersomnia (maybe I already have that though). I usually "fixed" my sleep issues because work/school forced me to, but now that won't happen for a while and even I can acknowledge living the way I do can't be normal.

yeah bro I have this shit too its not good to have. You really should try your best to let your sleep schedule get fucked.

Personally I keep a huge arsenal of sleeping drugs around. I take virtually every herbal supplement tht is supposed to help with sleep as well as THC gummies, ambien, gabapentin, diphenhydramine, and Ramelteon. For me the idea is that if I can rotate these and be careful with how I take them then I never become dependent on any one of them. Also study sleep hygiene and get some blue blocker glasses and desu you gotta stop playing video games and shit after about 8 in the evening to not get fucked up from the stimulation

No obviously, you're supposed to be asleep not long after dusk and wake up at dawn
Ideally you should be active and outgoing enough in the daytime, that when you hit the sack at 10 you fall asleep instantly

Personally I find that at 5-7pm I get a wave of tiredness and can go to sleep pretty regularly, but if I ignore this feeling and stay up, I will be completely unable to sleep until the point of absolute exhaustion, like what you describe.
Try to take note if you feel tired during a certain period of the day, I used to think I didn't have this cause 5-7pm is an inconvenient time to go to sleep for most people, but I guess it's just my biological clock.
Goyslop and lack of exercise will definitely impact sleep

Yes, it's bad. Usually night owls are just really early morning people.

Also this. People who feel restless at night usually did nothing difficult/meaningful through the day then they can't relax and go to sleep with all that energy and regrets polluting their mind.

Also true, your body has certain windows of time to fall asleep easily.

Guess who's awake at 4 am after waking up at midnight again?
This time I'll stay awake until ten pm and fix my sleep schedule for sure :^)
