I am in the US thinking of starting a college certificate program for medical billing and coding. It's $3295 and I'm thinking of taking out a small loan to cover it. I only have about $250 a month to spend on myself if I take out a 12 month loan. Honestly have been paralyzed in making this decision because of the commitment and not having a lot of free money for myself. Would you take it?

It would roughly take me 6 months to complete, and after completing and passing the exam for credentials, I would have the opportunity to get better paying jobs than what I have currently. It helps I have billing experience and work currently as a receptionist.

if ur confident you could get (and keep) a better paying job, it seems like a good idea

i'd be nervous about it, but still, it seems like a good idea

you could try cutting your expenses and/or getting more money in the meantime
do u think you could pay off the loan with the $250 per month you have now, even if you can't end up getting a better job? if so, i say do it for sure

receptionist seems comfy, depending on the people u have to deal with
i sometimes picture doing that (i am a neet)

if it were over $10,000 (like getting a degree), i'd be much more nervous
but $3000 doesn't seem life-changigly risky, u could probably find a way to pay it off even if things go wrong

Definitely could. Basically what I meant was this: after all my expenses and the loan (the loan is $289.68 a month), I would have roughly $260 a month to spend on whatever. That amount just feels tight, so it's made me really think on this for a couple days. I'm paying off other stuff like my phone before committing to make sure I have as much as humanly possible.

I'm most likely going to do it. I just always hesitate at things that make me uncomfortable.

oooh, i see :D
might be tight, but is definitely worth going through for more money in the future, especially if it's only for a few months
>I'm paying off other stuff like my phone before committing to make sure I have as much as humanly possible.
that seems smart

keep in mind the value of your time, especially the value of your time as a young person
getting a better job as quickly as possible is worth doing, even if u might be a little tight on money at first
just something to keep in mind

i feel you

It's kind of comfy. I just get bored easily and run out of things to do.

hmmm

Is this something job listings are specifically looking for? Or more of something that you feel will set you apart and distinguish your resume?
>>
Does the program have any job placement guarantees or continued support once it's finished?

>Is this something job listings are specifically looking for?
Yes. For the jobs I'm looking for in the field of the program, they require a specific credential. The program I'm planning to take will prepare me for the exam to get said credential

Unfortunately not.
