I hate math. It isn't fun, I don't enjoy it, but I'm good at it. I've been doing math on and off since I was 16 until I got a PhD in math. Now after my PhD I'm still doing math daily even though its boring as fuck and I'd rather be playing genshin impact, just because I feel like I have "things to say" research wise. I can't reconcile quitting forever because I'd be giving up something I've spent thousands of hours on, so instead I do math daily bored to prevent regressing.

How can I learn to enjoy math or finally close the door on all my unfinished projects I want to complete?

That sounds like an equation

Sunken cost fallacy.

>I feel like I have "things to say" research wise.
So finish off saying the "things you have to say" and then you can finally play your genshit impact uninterrupted afterwards

I was thinking about relearning math now that I'm an adult in a stable enviornment

I just got an undergrad degree but I understand.

you must be good at logic if you're good at math. at the same time, your real world experience is non existent and you don't see use cases for your knowledge. what do you work with, exactly? what kind of problem do you solve in real life? I figure math isn't too far from data science (speaking as a software engineer), so you're actually in a good position to pivot and/or specialize.

>don't like math
>do a phd in it
Why? It's neither a well-paying job nor a secure future. Why would you get a phd in a nonprofitable field if you don't love it?

brainlets don't care about bachelor's degrees much less grad degrees

PhD level math is closer to Minecraft than it is to arithmetic - it's imagining worlds with different ground rules and exploring the mathematical implications of the differences. Treat it like the big game it is.
