My college diploma has my birthdate written on it, and every employer asks about it.
I graduated college at 29, and every employer focuses on that instead on the fact that I have the title.
Everyone rejects me because of that, is there a way to fix it?

Who tf asks to see the piece of paper? Everywhere I've worked the HR troons are able to validate it through 3rd parties
>>

I am a privacy freak and always choose no in everything mate

Still doesn't make sense why you haul around the paper. I've been on both sides of the hiring table and never have I been asked or asked to see the easily forged piece of paper.

Sorry, but you've just found out one of the unspoken truths of society. Everyone talks about how "you can always learn new skill and start a new career, it's never too late", but the truth is if you are over 30 and applying for a job you don't already have 10 years experience in, no one wants to hire you. After all, why hire the guy who suddenly decided to change career paths 10 years out of high school when they could hire someone already clearly committed to their career? You've already proven yourself to be wishy-washy, so it's a permanent red flag on your resume. Leaving out your previous career doesn't help either, because then they are looking at a 30-yo who just recently got a BA and wonder what the hell he did with his 20's to just NOW be getting started.
I was dumb enough to save up money to go to college over years of working minimum wage jobs, thinking a degree could change my life. Turns out employers are just as eager to hire a 36-yo with a BA as they are a 36-yo with a high school diploma. Employers don't give a fuck if you're a hard worker who's worked their way into college, they want either fresh graduates with connections, or people who already have 10-20 years of experience in the field.
It's already too late anon, welcome to the rest of your minimum wage life.

Same here but I have an excuse, I was a late bloomer because I had to wait out my health issues. In Europe you can sue them because of that.

*sits down next to you* Sometimes, you've just got to pull yourself up by your bootstraps champ. Just like your old man here did!

Back in my day, in the 60s, your great uncle Tom only paid me 3 dollars an hour laying bricks on the weekends. That was very my first job. Now they're paying your generation a whole 7 or 8 dollars just to flip burgers or punch buttons on a register! Wow! I sure wish I had those kinds of great opportunities.

*pats you on the shoulder* It's real simple buddy, all you have to do is put on a nice shirt, print out that resume of yours, walk right in there, ask for the manager, and give him a nice firm handshake.

Me and your mom aren't gonna be around forever to take care of you, you know. So it's time to buckle down and get to work son. I know you can do it.

I did the whole college/family/full time job and so schooling took a little longer. Now im a 30yr old broad with an empty nest, hot bod and degrees. I want to jump off a building and feel like my life is over.
Where is my reset button?

Then you say "Social Security shouldn't be tied to inflation, the $2,000 a month retirees get now is far more than the $74 they got in 1960." And suddenly they can't wait to tell you how $2,000 a month isn't enough to live on now, how do you expect them to live on $74? I don't think people realize how many boomers operate on a double dealing mentality, and are both capable and eager to hold conflicting viewpoints as long as it benefits them. Inflation only exists when talking about SS, the rest of the time it's just kids being lazy and greedy.

You must consider the correct of living. (ie - single mom makes 4k a month but rent is 1600 / car pmts are 600 / groceries / insurance / childcare) you literally can't even buy McDonalds. Forget about student loans or any kind of personal goods.
But a man in the same position will make at least double what she does WITHOUT A DEGRRE
>>
>>34409432
Oh, and fun fact, between 1956 and 1985, the federal minimum wage was the adjusted for inflation equivalent of $10/hr or more. Sometimes as high as $14.80/hr, but never below $10/hr. Since 1985, it's been above $10/hr for about 8 years total. The people who vote against minimum wage increases and talk about kids being greedy literally made 1.5x to 2x as much for the same jobs.
>>
>>34409520
In 1960 the minimum wage was $1/hour, with many legal exceptions that were lower
>>
>>34409111
I cry fake. What college puts the birthdate on the diploma?
>>
>>34409579
No kidding.
>>34409520
>the adjusted for inflation equivalent of $10/hr or more.
And $1 in 1960 when adjusted for inflation and taking the CPI into account is roughly $10.87. Because you are paying 30-60% more(adjusted for inflation) for medical care, rent/housing, and transportation. You make less and you pay more.

>Brainlet cope
I got a degree in 2019 at 33 and was able to successfully change careers within 3 months of graduating. Applied to about 40 jobs, got 8 interviews and 6 offers with no previous connections or special DEI considerations.
>>
>>34409332
I didn't change careers, it just took me 10 years to graduate a 4 year college degree
>>34409585
I could share pic, but it has my personal data on it.
>>
Could you fake it to look like it is an earlier date?
>>
>>34410338
>I didn't change careers, it just took me 10 years to graduate a 4 year college degree
that's literally worse than changing careers, because having a career by default is proof that you can commit to learning and work
You're fucked unless you live in a small town.

STOP DEMORALIZING GUYS, NOBODY IS FALLING FOR THAT
>>
>>34409332
>After all, why hire the guy who suddenly decided to change career paths 10 years out of high school when they could hire someone already clearly committed to their career?
they can't always hire someone else, tha'ts how markets work xd

HOW CAN HE DEMORALIZE

NO real college puts "personal data" on a diploma.

>After all, why hire the guy who suddenly decided to change career paths 10 years out of high school when they could hire someone already clearly committed to their career?
Because the most middle of the road millennial hire is going to be underpriced for 5+years and won't need pronouns or accommodations or self care puppy petting days

How? How? How is that possible?

I just kept trying and failing bro. The exams had nothing to do with what they teach in class, and withoit knowing what are going to be the questions it's impossible to prepare

Didn't your parents say anything? What was your field? Did you take internships? If I was you, I would go the entrepreneur route, it's very unlikely you'll find a job, specially if it's IT
>>
>>34417307
I haven't seen my parents in almost a decade, and even if I had, they don't care about me
I studied physics, and I had sunken fallacy cost syndrome, so that's that.

Brother, 6 fucking years... I mean, at least you learned physics and now you're good at it, right? Maybe try becoming a teacher?
