Im starting college at 21 so ill be 3 years older than the rest of class. Ive had a series of unfortunate circumstances and retarded decisions that put me in this spot but I will not go in detail.

I would be lying if i said im not bothered by this but my biggest concern is the following:
should i disclose my age?
on one hand it would be weird to just randomly mention it, on the other hand if i dont and then someone down the line asks I dont want them to feel like ive been hiding something. basically i dont want to weird others out.

I guess i have the advantage of looking slightly younger but i still dont want to use that and hide it from people like a weirdo.

Am i retarded ?

When I transferred to uni in year 3, I had classmates ranging from age 19-40, the median probably being 22ish. My roommates all turned 25 before we graduated. Even if that's not the case in your major it's still a negligible age gap, don't worry about it.

how do you think i should disclose my age?
i think the default response seems to be "dont mention unless asked", do you think this still applies to me?

No one - absolutely NO ONE - will notice.
