I'm doing an engineering internship and tomorrow I'll be travelling by bus from 7:30 PM till 2:30 AM the next day. Work is from 8 AM till 5 PM, but I really, really don't want to do this to myself and tire myself out before the trip. I'm an intern so naturally my schedule is flexible, provided I do my monthly hours (I'm working part-time). Generally, it is expected of interns to prepare their schedule ahead of time, like one week ahead. Can I make this last minute change to my schedule and not go tomorrow? I know my schedule is being monitored by the higher-ups. Should I tell my manager about this? The managers are chill and not super strict about last minute changes. But what do I tell my manager without (totally) coming off as frivolous and unreliable?
>>34416980you can put it like this "I prefer to not work dadadadad and would request to get a day off and can totally cover in an alternate timeslot."I remember i did something similar and they were like yeah whatever have fun in the train. I just did some basic chores on a saturday to cover the day i missed.
>>34416980Dude, you don't seem to want the full time job, cause you're not gonna get it if you miss work tomorrow.
>>34417078Thanks, sounds good.>>34417121I mean, I kind of want it, but I have other options too after this internship ends. Besides, as I said, my schedule is flexible.
>>34416980If you call before it's ok
>>34416980Bro you have a fucking 5 hour bus ride? That alone sucks so I get it. But you probably don't want to get fired anyways. You'll need to structure your day around sleeping on the bus without getting robbed or something.
