Is it ever warranted to drop a friend or group of friends due to politics, especially when said politics seem like such a part of their identity that it changes how I see them as a person?I've got a group that just won't stop talking politics constantly, even though we have other activities we get into. I happen to be the odd one out and so it devolves into arguments all the time. These are people I've known for quite some time now and they've significantly changed as people as politics have become more extreme. I've asked them to take it elsewhere, and they refuse. Part of me doesn't want to burn a bridge and cut my social life apart, but I also don't view them as good people anymore and probably wouldn't be friends with them if we met at random now. I'm clinging to what our friendship used to be than what it is.Thoughts? I also don't want to insult them and tell them I think they've turned into bad people, so I don't really know how to do this besides just try to give the slow fade. Pic not related.
Concern with politics shallower than a meta analysis is for simpletons. That's the realm of left/right television garbage. It speaks directly to their character if they seriously use the bullshit from the major media corporations, which there's about 3 that control all the networks, to navigate reality. Remember when Fox was sued and they beat the suit because they are, "for entertainment purposes only"? Life's too short to waste on crappy people.
