My job pays well but it's extremely stressful. Is the money worth sacrificing my health?
>>
>>34424248
You were supposed to answer that yourself.
How am I supposed to know what is better for your life?
>>
>>34424248
No it's not worth sacrificing your health over. I won't feed you the weak effeminate new age speak of "true wealth comes from within", because that sort of thing is uttered by the weak and the lazy. But there's a balance to be reached, somewhere between practicality and intuition. And that is, if you know the work is fucking with your health (physical or mental) and you know it's not going to let up, and you know the money isn't truly making you feel at least comfortable in your own life, then it's time to pack it up. But not immediately, generate a plan of action and swap to a plan B.

This will help you avoid sudden destitution. If you have people dependent on you, and you know the money is needed for their survival or wellbeing, then you may have to keep going with the shit work in an act of sacrifice. At that point what you need to do is make sure you receive support and love from home to keep you going.

Luckily I'm still young and don't have any kids. Just need to figure out what I want to do if I leave my job. Really just want to WFH and chill
>>
>>34424294
Cheers for the cigarette boss. Yeah it's lucky in this case that you ain't got kids. You ever considered taking vacation yourself? Maybe you could take the edge off without quitting if you just scheduled in a fortnight break
>>
>>34424248
this picture is so hard wtf
>>
>>34424248
Difficult question. Low pay jobs are usually stressful too so consider all possibiliti.

I only get 1 week of vacation for the whole year. It's fucked up
>>
>>34424248
For some it is. If it isn't for you, then a cut in pay may be a price you're willing to pay.

In my case it was a matter of drudgery. I know for a fact that I could make twice what I do in a 9-5 office job, and I consider the loss a thoroughly acceptable price to pay to NOT have a 9-5 office job.
>>
>>34424501
I may need to just do the same thing I do now at a different place. I might make $3-$4 less per hour but it's probably worth it. I'll give it a few months and see if anything changes
>>
>>34424424
what a chad
>>
>>34424248
Only if you save shittons.
>>
>>34424248
It doesn't have to stay stressful. You could also work from the inside outward and make yourself more resilient to the job.
>>
>>34424640
I am saving a shitton and while putting 15% of my check into 401k every week. I live with my mom and she only asks $200 for rent
>>34424651
I've been struggling with that for years. I get overwhelmed easily and my job is very chaotic environment (constant loud noise, constant problems, asshole boss). I feel like I'm getting thrown into the deep end every single day and I haven't even learned how to swim yet. Been trying to meditate more and forcing myself to go outside and do something relaxing at least once a day
>>
Question is how well is well. If you can't retire after 20 years at the absolute max it's not good enough for something super stressful imo.
>>
>>34425112
20 years would be pushing it but is possible. 30 years would a guarantee though and I would only be 62 years old
>>
>>34425150
>30 years
Nah that ain't it. Find something else less stressful or something that pays more, your current direction is getting the benefits of neither

>My job pays well but it's extremely stressful. Is the money worth sacrificing my health?
this largely depends on how much you spend, how much you want, what you want to DO with your money, etc

your post is kinda non-specific, but my advice would be to hold onto the job & look for ways to relax
not in the normie sense like "go out & have some fun get some R&R"
i don't really know what i mean, but hopefully you can think of some things

if the stress becomes unsustainable, come up with a plan and quit
exit strategy etc

good luck anon

>I feel like I'm getting thrown into the deep end every single day and I haven't even learned how to swim yet. Been trying to meditate more and forcing myself to go outside and do something relaxing at least once a day
that's not bad but you could do more

wear earplugs at work if you can

maybe go fishing or something, instead of "just" going outside

NTA but I'm in a similar situation working for a accounting company that I got as an offer from a friend of my dad who knows the boss and she told me it was a work from home type of job, and I'd need to go to Germany only to pick up equipment and do some basic training, only to realize that the job could only be basically done in office in Germany and that me working from home would only make everything difficult for the entire team
>>
>>34424248
Changing job won’t ever do a difference, unless you quit smoking!
>>
>>34424248
I'm facing a similar realisation OP. Not that my job is horrible per se, I'm in tech, I'm remote. But it's the constant orbiting of clueless retards, autists, corpocunts and the utter bullshit that has became my everyday life. I don't even give a single fuck about it, there is no passion, no will, but I am here for the money and to speedrun my career into financial independence.
Here's the catch: idk whenever that will be, if it will ever happen one day, the finish line keeps moving away, and AI might as well replace me in 2 years. I'm quite lost. But all I know is that I won't be young forever.

So I think I should become picrel. No stress life, low maintenance, and harvesting each day, one at the time, instead of slaving for a future I won't touch.

That's my take, idk for you. It's hard to detach.
>>
>Is the money worth sacrificing my health?
No
You can always steal money but you can't steal health.
>>
>>34424248
if you have to ask here, probably not

>>

>Is the money worth sacrificing my health?
Yes, you have a better option. Furthermore, when you leave this job you will likely recover your health normally.
>>
>>34424424
>I only get 1 week of vacation for the whole year. It's fucked up
Same as me, and I am a SWE. I live in a trash tier country so I can't complain, but people here at least gets 1 month of vacation, but they earn 3 times less than me... I wish I could get a job in an US company
>>
>>34430861
>I wish I could get a job in an US company
You probably could if you save up enough money to fly here and then you can sleep on my couch until you get on your feet
>>
>>34424248
What do you want? Can you FIRE?
>>
>>34431697
>What do you want?
Mostly to be alone and live a simple life
>Can you FIRE?
Kind of. I could probably manage to retire between age 55-60. If you meant right now though then no I just started working about 2 years ago
>>
>>34431718
Well l, it sounds like you have to work, you can either try and earn enough and create work like balance til you retire, or you can find a less stressful job. There's a bit of wiggle room but that's what it boils down to. All I can do is recommend limiting expenses.
>>
Also maybe wait for interest rates to lower to job search. Who knows. Work might even just get less stressful around that time.
