If you come off as one of those conservatives in the slightest bit, they attack as it threatens their ideals. Their ideals are based on turmoil they've dealt with their entire lives. When they are reminded of their turmoil they lash out on people who sound a part of it. You could be a redneck who loves trucks and only wants to talk trucks, but because you are seen with a Trump hat they derail the entire interaction about Trump from how utterly turmoiled they are. It's a sad fact about the 21st century, most people brainwash themselves with negativity so much it poisons the potentially good interactions they could have with other people.
