So I am at a bit of a crossroads here. I don't have the same passion for the field I am studying right now, to be honest I'm not sure I ever did. It's computer science, but unlike the US computer science degrees still have a great value in my country, and will definetly ensure me a life with decent money. I don't necessarily hate it, but I can tell I don't have the same passion most of my classmates do. On the other hand, I'm not påssionate about anything really, except for cooking food. The thing is though, the restaurant industry is to shit and toxic that I honestly don't think I am cut out for it.

If I drop out of uni, I will very likely face either working minimum wage or going to trade school, but both of those options seem pretty bleak, especially working minimum wage. I'm at the age where I really would have though I would have my shit together, and it's honestly disheartening to know that I am not the man I thought I were.

Save up money working in IT and open your own restaurant. You don't need to drop out from college like a retard. You would have waster years of your life and money if you drop out now. You can always chase after that dream after you get your diploma. Think about it, if you drop out now, you could work in a restaurant, flipping burgers, and doing minimum wage. Is that your goal when you say you like to cook?

Companies are refusing to hire junier devs, because agents simply better, and they're getting better and cheaper FAST. Absolutely no one will be hiring juniers by the time you graduate. Don't listen to anyone saying otherwise. They're in the "deniel" phase of trauma. Just thinking about how AI is fucking over this industry triggers a bad response so they just stick their head in the ground like an ostrich. Don't listen to influencers saying AI can't replace developers either. They are entertainers. Their job is to make their audience feel good, so they lie to their audience and hide the bitter truth.

Do something real/physical, robots are many decades away from being as good as humans.

Computer Science is more oversaturated than any other industry. You're not just fighting graduates for jobs, but massive layoffs constantly, AI, foreign works etc. I really can't recommend against it enough.

That is pretty much what I fear. Even if I grind through the next 2-3 years, I'm worried that I will end up burnt out and jobless, as well as wasted even more money/years of my life.

Problem is I dont have the slightest idea what I want. I want to have a specialty, but I just can't bring myself to grind myself to death for the slim chance of an entry level job

Dude, you should be grinding RIGHT NOW. Why are you not in any internship? Yeah, just give up like the pussy that you are, bcs you're not doing anything to stand out

It doesn't get easier once you graduate. Just try to get a good job now then drop out when find something. Or do internship.

Wait, are you Danish or Norwegian? Finish your degree dumbass. It's free. I said you should drop out so you don't wrack up debt. I'm >>34431390

You can also switch your degree and take your credits to another programme that you prefer.

I had zero passion for working with computers, hated my coworkers, and really resented being "forced" into the field. However, after some time, I began to find some enjoyment in the problem-solving facet of my job. It's still not my ideal career, but it's not as soul-crushing as I initially thought it would be.
Personally, I would just finish your degree and get a job. If you really hate the field, you can always quit and go work that minimum wage job.

Get as much education as you can while you are young. Maybe shift to IT security. But take it from someone who chased education into his 40's... it isn't easy.

As for cooking, nah. The food industry works on shitty margins. In the past 10 years, three locations where he worked closed (two were well-known chains, one a standalone restaurant.) Earn money and cook for fun.

Yeah... I'm in my 30's, and let me tell you, it is anything but easy. Your mind isn't nearly as light as it used to be. It's rigid, foggy, stressed, less flexible, all of those things make it harder to learn new stuff when your head is already full of other life stuff overburdening it.

Of course, anyone can and should get an education if they really want to, but it's usually much harder to learn new stuff when you're older, unfortunately.
