I have this plushy blanket that I don't really want to get rid of, but it smells like sweat. It's been through the wash already and idk what to do about it. Gemini said to use vinegar, but now it just smells like vinegar and sweat.

Soak it in baking soda for a day and then wash.

Soaking in vinegar might work too. Either method might require more than one soak/wash depending on how filthy you and your body oils are. With vinigger, I find that it takes a while for the smell to dissipate even after drying.

Adding in baking soda or vinegar to loads doesn't really do much in my experience.

expose both sides to the sun for a few hours

Just because the quality is bad, it doesn't mean it will hurt him, and throwing just to buy another is more harmful to the environment.

Vinegar fucks up your appliances. Who you gonna believe? I’m sure it will screw up the colour but the good ol sun cleans well. It can even remove stains.

Blankie should have a tag with instructions. You need to follow the instructions. I saw a video where a girl says to only use a shot of detergent, that using more is unnecessary and even detrimental, I have noticed that my laundry smells better with only this shot amount versus using the cap and pouring up to a line. After this, the blanket must be completely dried when leaving the dryer. Even a little damp, will get that mildew smell.

How does your washer itself smell?
I read somewhere that spritzing things with vodka can get rid of smells. Maybe use everclear just to be sure lol.
