I have a severe internet addiction. My usual day involves spending at least 12 hours online. It is just so fun to type, listen to keys being pressed, use websites, look at website designs, listening to music, etc. When I'm off the internet however I usually go into my own imagination so I'm basically not fully engaged in the real world for most of the day. While it is extremely fun to daydream, it always slows me down or leads to procrastination (i. e. this post). How do I break out of this? I have been this way since I was six.

Most of my online conversations follow a scripted, performative interview-like process that is generally entertaining for me and occasionally for the interviewee. However they seldomly progress to becoming a natural unscripted conversation.
Hello, I have a question for you,
Potato bread or banana bread which one do you prefer? Follow up questions afterwards.
On a scale of one to ten how would you rate the quality of your life? Follow up questions afterwards if possible.
What do you aspire to achieve in the year 2026? Again, follow up questions.

I have a superficial friendship with numerous people of my age and our interactions consist of making proactive jokes that can easily get us into trouble. We joke so much about these topics that it is perhaps the only thing that I can pin point as relatable between me and another individual. There is probably more in the temporarily inaccessible parts of my memories however it will take some time and I am currently in the process of completing this post. I think that I potentially am overcomplicating things to an extend. Is there a way to interact with people in a way that is deemed more natural?

How will living in this current state affect my future? What else do you advise on changing, why and how? Is there a question that I am not asking but should? I would like a perspective outside of my own.

Glad I did not pay much to read this.

That's pretty much my life. As a STEMfag I was able to get a good job, but just recently I can tell my lack of verbal communication skills are really hurting me and I think I'll probably be fired next year/cycle. I don't know how to fix it.
