>tl;dr I'm considering leaving tech, but don't know where to goI'm in my mid thirties, working in tech and about leave my current shitty job in a few months from now. Got the (advanced) degrees, the certifications and the job experience in software engineering / cyber-sec / consulting (basically working with computers for 20 years now). Fuck, I even have published scientific papers in my portfolio. Now, as I'm currently seeking/applying to jobs across the fields, I simply can't bring myself be excited or motivated for anything. Every fucking company looks the same, provides the same pointless services, has the same brainless HR roasties to mindlessly utter the same meaningless management phrases. Even before the whole AI hype, tech as a field felt like dying. Now it's downright rotten and repellent. Even switching to different tech domains seems impossible, as entry positions are scrubbed from the companies...I'm honestly considering leaving tech for good, but I have no idea what to do next. Going back to college (maybe med/dental/vet if they would let me), get into trades, I'm even unironically considering joining my country's military... Is there somewhere I can transfer my skills or should/must I completely start anew? What would you guys do?>inb4 just suck it up and be happy you even have a jobI still think a job / field shouldn't make you miserable doing it no matter how well it pays.
