I'm spectrum and looking for a first entry level job and keep seeing things outwardly discriminating against people like me. This kind of wording sets up an arbitrary filter based on how someone comes across socially rather than what they can do. If a posting used equally vague language, about another protected group, it would be called out and removed immediately. >looking for pale skinned people with big round eyes that speak proper EnglishThis should be treated the same way. The ADA standard isn't whether you're born being able to do a job, it's whether you can accomplish it with reasonable accommodations. Is there any way to flag or push back on listings like this to get companies to stick to clear, skills-based requirements? Who do I report this sort of exclusionary, illegal practice to so I can make sure things like this are discouraged in polite society?
>>34445669You can't really report it. You'd have to sue and even then you'd want to talk to a ADA lawyer beforehand to make sure you have stamding for a primae facia challenge
>>34445669>Complaining that a customer service job doesn't want to hire autists who suck with peopleOP, being able to read the room is part of the job. You are not qualified for it. Stop being a faggot.
>>34445669>reasonable accommodations.Nah fuck that. Look OP but I got ADHD and I think it's bullshit that us "Neurodivergent" people ask employers for 'reasonable accomodations'. Because they're almost never reasonable at all, and all that happens is it puts unnecessary responsibility on employers, it forces them to parent us basically. And it's always exploited too. One stupid cunt with adhd recently sued her employers and won because the judge was a bleeding heart idiot. She constantly was late for work and even didn't show up for an entire day because she wanted to get a manicure and go to a spa. She claimed it was to "decompress" for her adhd. They fired her, she cried about it, cited 'accomodations' and then sued them and won.???? The fuck is that shit about man. Anyway I know you already agree that's bullshit don't worry. But my point is, we should strive to be functional and catch up to what is expected of everyone. We shouldn't ask employers to dumb shit down just because we have disorders, that's patronising and gay
>warehouse job>why don't they hire wheelchairs!?
>>34446176>I got ADHD and I think it's bullshit that us "Neurodivergent" people ask employers for 'reasonable accomodations'. That's because you're straight ADHD and not AuDHD. You're basically neurotypical and I despise your kind.
>>34446161>OP, being able to read the room is part of the job. You are not qualified for it. Stop being a faggot.I'm literally trying to get a public facing job like this board always says so i can deal with people and get over this. how can i ever get a job if entry level jobs say "you can't start at zero"you are basically saying society can just forbid unsocialized people from ever trying to improve, and i don't agree. people need to be given chances to try and to fail in life so they can pick themselves back up
>>34446828That's what school is for. Improving during the first 18 years of your life before you get a wagie. What have you been doing with your 18 whole years?
>>34445669Job listings are wishlists, describing the dream candidate. They are NOT minimal demands. If someone ticking all the boxes applies, they get the job. But if no one ticking every box applies, they'll take the best among those who do. (You usually run into this regarding experience. "Two years experience" does NOT mean they won't hire an impressive beginner.)What that ad does NOT say is "no autists need apply." What it DOES say is "We're looking for this sort of person. If you think you're generally it, please apply."
