I had a very active imagination when i was a hiki. I could be in NYC, Tokyo, Brazil, anywhere i wanted through fiction. embrace this and mentally close yourself off from the outside world. this only works if you don't have to work.

People are telling you to be a shut-in, which I don't believe is the question. You need to have parents who are willing to support you, but also not going to make too big a deal of encouraging you to change and improve.
