I am 20 years old and have been struggling with severe anxiety and stress for a while, I finally built up the courage to schedule a doctors appointment and it is in june, what are some tips for general wellbeing and mental health? I really wanna self improve.
Don't compare yourself to Disney corporate slop movies that have poisoned people's minds for years. Compare yourself to the kids who is dying of dehydration from not having enough cents to buy water in a middle eastern country.

>>34446230I don't have any tips on wellbeing. But i will say this, do not let anxiety, stress and depression consume you, it could potentially damage your nervous system and create a bigger issue. I would recommend natural ways of coping before any medications are considered. Exercise, diet socialize, get a gf if you can, stay positive even if its hard, try to trick your brain into being happy. If all fails, then get on some meds.Good luck to you.
>>34448825Agree. If you start meds you can try something more natural like NAC up to 2.4g daily before ever considering something like SSRIs that can severely fuck up your dopamine systwm and create addiction and nerve damage. I also recommend whole body exercise. See where you are stiff and apply waemth and feel into it with your hands. Also try to love yourself and stop being harsh to yourself (reduce harsh internal critics). Also if you can get into some good spirituality and belief in a good higher power can help. Not telling you to go into sects or major religions, just to believe in the good and its many ways as a higher power of the universe.
>>34449665I see, do you have any experience with SSRIs? What were they like and what were the side effects? Apologies for being nosy but about half a dozen people told me getting on some kind of anti anxiety med (i assume an ssri of some variety) would be good for me but I am extremely worried and cautious about that idea. Also what is NAC and what does it do?
be aware that change takes timet. 25 yo
