I had my first car accident on Friday. Damage was minimal (i can still drive it) and third party insurer reached out and accepted liability. My car is a 2007 fiesta Zetec (bought for approx 1400) and I was thinking of selling it next year. I feel like this whole thing is a blessing in disguise because they offered me a write off for 1100 and it’s a perfect excuse to buy a new car, which is great because I was considering selling the car around summer this year before my insurance renewal wrecked me. My friend said to me to keep the car and use the payout to repair it privately and then sell it later down the line so I can make more money. But I don’t want to invest so much into something that Im going to get rid of soon anyway.
>>34448960the repairs cost more than the car so tell the insurance company that you want it repaired and get a quote to repair it then ask they pay the money to you. I don't know if they'll do that though since the repairs are probably worth more than the car meaning they'll salvage it, pay you the price of the car then you have to buy it back for a bit cheaper than what they give. I don't know the damage of your car but if you're not going to repair it yourself with your own two hands then it's not worth it and even if you're did it's probably not worth the time you put into it. Nobody wants to buy a beat car unless it's a project car and nobody is looking at a fiesta zetec as an exciting project car.The real question is if you care about having an undamaged car and whether you can find an undamaged car you can afford.
>>34448960>bought for $1400 >repairLol no. Sell it as is for a little more than it would go for as scrap after you find a new car and save yourself the time and trouble.
>>34449161>can I find an undamaged.Absolutely. A thing I need to consider is what would be the right car for me, considering it would be my second car. (UK anon here)
>>34449179Nice then just take the $1100, let them salvage the fiesta, and buy something else.
>>34449194Im thinking of buying a fiesta titanium. However I heard replacing the wet belts can be extremely expensive once they degrade. What would you suggest buying for a second car?
>>34449208something boring, reliable and easily serviceable like a toyota or honda
>>34449225Are there any downsides to the titanium. The only reason I ask is because that was the car I originally wanted to get but If i did it would’ve destroyed me on insurance
