There’s a new gym that opened really close to me, like I could actually walk there, which sounds amazing. But the price is super confusing and seems really high (like around $800? not even sure if that’s monthly or yearly). Right now I go to a $9/month gym, but it’s always packed and kinda annoying to deal with. Part of me is thinking the expensive gym might be way less crowded and just a better experience overall, but I don’t know if that’s worth the price or if I’m just trying to justify it because it’s closer. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What did you end up doing?

Like you better be getting a personal trainer too if you're paying that. When you go to that gym to ask questions, don't let yourself get pressured into buying a membership. Walk in with the intention to ask questions and leave without buying anything. This will allow you alone time to think if you want to go there. If they pull some "limited time only" pricing shit on you when you are asking questions, it's probably not a good place. Just ask about how crowded it gets, what the pricing model, hours, and anything else you want to know, then leave and think on it. When you are thinking about it after having an understanding of how the gym is, think about how often you workout, and if the price/atmosphere is worth it for you. If you work out daily, more worth it, but if you're a once or twice a week guy, probably not.
