This is what my cabinet looks like underneath the kitchen sink of the apartment I just moved into.Is this normally the condition landlords leave the kitchen sinks in when an apartment is ready for a new tenant?
>>34454294That's how it looks when the landlord repairs a leak himself, didn't want to tear out the entire cabinet and opted to cut a hole instead. It's ugly for sure, maybe a little lazy, but he saved a lot of work and time doing it that way. It doesn't look like a bad repair to me, just not professional.
>>34454319Well if you say so. lol sure is ugly though.
>>34454319Okay, need your opinion again. Now this is what my bathroom sink looks like. Is that professional?
Both pics 34454450 and 34454294 look like there is no problem. Typically there are some marks from old leaks and other nastiness. None of that here so you are fine. Not professional and obviously looks a bit rough but nothing to worry about. In fact I personally like being able to see behind the cabinet so you can tell if there are leaks. Enjoy.
>>34454498Ah, so are you in construction by any chance?
>>34454450Yea, I'd do some research on that one, like tenant law and rental property law. I feel like this might go against code having foam encasing pipes that could leak. It depends on where you're at, so you have to look up the laws yourself, or ask chatgpt. There could be laws regarding the quality of repair he makes and using fire retarding foam, if you want to split hairs over it.
>>34454536I had a secondary thought after posting this. If I was trying to hide something, say a moldy spot behind the water lines, I wild do something like this. Not to say that's why its like that, but it's possible.
>>34454536>using fire retarding foamAh so that's what that stuff is. Looks like toothpaste mixed with mustard mixed with cement. I'm in Ohio btw.
>>34454294>>34454450It's not an issue until rats find a way in
>>34454546Yea, probably this or some other brand. I think the yellow stuff is flammable
>>34454540>If I was trying to hide somethingWell, the bathtub looks like it was covered in white paint and not the usual material that bathtub are usually made out of. The last apartment I was in that did that, when the paint started chipping, it revealed some awful rusting underneath. This building I'm in right now has been around since at least the 60s I think. All we have are smoke detectors and fire extinguishers out in the halls. There are no sprinklers. Also the bathroom has no electrical outlet. Except the one that's built into the light where you gotta reach up to plug something in a very tight spot while not hitting the light bulb. And when you turn off the light, the socket also goes out
>>34454561>the yellow stuff is flammableYikes!
what kind of neurotic shit is this?the cabinet under any sink looks like shit in 99% of homes on earth. unclench your anus. re-trimming that space after plumbing work is the homeowner equivalent of bleaching your anus. >>34454576so's the rest of the house, dumbass. but the fire warning on the can only refers to the product while in its uncured state, i.e. you shouldn't spray it near an ignition source.
>>34454347why do you want the area under your sink to be beautiful? what a fucking retarded bitch mentality
>>34454294It's not The Sims motherfucker. If nothing is leaking it's fine.
>>34454573White paint could be kils. It's for painting over mold and similar water damage.
>>34454919The ENTIRE bathtub is covered in white paint.
>>34454550>ratsMy landlord has that covered. There's rat bait motel traps all over the property.
>>34454919Kils? It murders people?
>>34454450Holy fuck this looks like I did it lmaooooop
>>34455379You work in construction?
>>34454294It’s fine.
>>34455649>It’s fine.
>>34455335Eventually yeah if you use it a lotIt's not dangerous once it's dry
>>34455922You know I bet somewhere on /soc/ some faggot used that stuff inside his anus.
>>34455993Yikes!
>>34454294Personally I would never buy a home that had a sink looking like that. That's fucking ghetto looking.
>>34457875if you'd get cold feet over a few inches of missing plywood, the chance of you ever owning a home is approximately 0%
>>34458318I own a home, actually. My sinks don't look like that.
>>34458367then surely you understand that you could fix them for $20?
>>34458373Why should I have to fix something I just bought? If you buy a brand new car would you be happy having to pay a mechanic to fix a broken whatever right after you just bought it? I didn't have to fix shit. Everything was in good condition when I bought my house, cause the previous owner took care of their shit. What happened after I bought it? Well that's my shit, and I fix my own shit when it needs to be fixed so it's not shit.
