its been my dream to be a dad since I was in high school. most places here cost like 2-3k. i would need to make at least 30-40 dollars an hour to live alone. but thats just to LIVE alone. if I wanted disposable income I would need more than that. and to support a child's education all the way until adulthood... it genuinely seems impossible unless the mom works too. but if you do that you risk the child growing up with all sorts of mental problems (speaking from experience). i guess with maternity leave you can make it work for a bit. i dont wanna turn my kid into an ipad baby just to keep them entertained while were both working
>>34460225Yeah, I've wondered the same, too. I have no idea how people can even afford to buy a house at all nowadays, not unless they have an extremely well-paying job, or if they pay it in installments for like two decades or something.I guess ideally either or both in the couple can maybe find a job that allows them to work from home, that way you can still be around the kids. The Ipad baby thing really is concerning too, I hate when parents don't want to take the responsibility and just throw an ipad or phone in the hands of the kid to keep them distracted, instead of spending time with or taking care of them. Why even have kids if you're not going to bother with teaching and spending time with them?
kids don't actually cost any fucking money at all if you have work healthcare you can put them on you are SET. Buy the little nigga a hand full of toys (some sports balls, those leap frog learning books, some legos or similar), the amount of food they eat is tiny. They can wear the cheapest clothes possible nobody gives a shit except vain retarded women. You could literally take care of a kid on a budget of like 100 dollars a month

>>34460225The cities are expensive for a reason, because most people have high paying jobsGet a higher paying job
>>34460343this is 100% itpeople saying it's too expensive nowadays just figure they HAVE to go for private school and $3k/month in child carethey raised kids in the depression. you shouldn't neglect them but there's nothing requiring you to spoil them
Shit is really expensive, that's all there is to it. Considering moving somewhere with a lower cost of living, unless you are making above average money for where you are. Wife and I worked hard and saved for years and were able to buy a house and have a kid in our mid 30s, it would have been challenging to have one at what I now see is the ideal time, our early 20s. You are wise to want mom to stay home with the kid in early years, this is excellent for the kid and your family but hard to do. Grandparents can be a great help if you have a good relationship, if you're considering moving take that into account.
Idk, leeching off government handouts if ur government is incompetent
