Even if the other person doesn't forgive you (and that's their right to be offended by whatever you did), at least you showed that you recognize that the thing you did was wrong.Maybe with time the other person will calm down and forgive, maybe not, but if you feel like you did something wrong, I think you need to apologize no matter what. This is good both for the other person, and for yourself. It shows humility, and that you can control your hubris.
