like the constant suggestions to quit your CS degree to sign up for the trades, joining church is more of a 4chan thought terminating cliche than anything any of the 18-25 year old third worlders here actually do. church can be great if it's a social scene you authentically grew up in, or are invited to join by someone who does have a role or significant social status amongst the congregation. for singleton men that just started showing up and are not socially connected to begin with, it's truly horrible. its like joining the police, going to a pep rally for a sports team, etc and if you step out of line because you don't already know all the things you should do, you will be shunned.
