Growing up my mom always taught me that eating in your car is trashy. But now that I'm grown up I see that pretty much everybody eats in their car. Is everyone else super trashy or was I taught wrong growing up?

I'm super trashy, and I hate sitting inside eating with normal people because I feel so out of place. So I settle for eating in my truck. But I'll drive and eat instead of finding a parking spot somewhere, like I've seen some people do.

You're moms one of those snobby people that was taught stupid lessons. As long as you clean up after yourself it's not trashy. Have a mini trash bin in your car/vehicle and remember to throw it in your garbage bin when you get home. Also have some type of odorizer for your vehicle so the food smell doesn't linger.

It's trashy because

>It cuts you off from interacting with people and that makes them talk and isolate you
>it makes the smells stick.

CHOOSING to eat in your car is trashy. Being forced to eat in your car because you're a salesman or engineer and only have 15 minutes between appointments is part of modern life (and God's way of telling you to get a different job).

No one gives a shit whether you eat in your mom's car, but your mom is right because only niggers and indians eat in cars and places that aren't at a desk in general. If you're going to act like an indian, please kill yourself or close this website.

this

Plus, your mom probably started the no eating in cars rule so that you wouldn't get crumbs in between the seats, and it'll be one more chore for her to do.

Nuthin' wrong with it. As long as you keep it clean, and have a proper way to dispose of your trash it's all good. You can also keep in kind smell build up in your car. As long as it's not freezing or raining outside, cracking a window would help with ventilation.
Your mum could be looking at it from a "proper" point of view. I.E. you should only eat in a dining room. Proper etiquettes and all. But unless you're trying to maintain some high class presentation, most people don't really care.

This is the correct answer.

You can try to clean your car afterwards, but eventually the smell will be permanent. It’s even worse if the food falls into a place that you can’t reach and starts rotting away there over time.

It depends what you eat. Anything that will mess up the car is bad.
No self respecting parent will let their 5 year old kid eat ice cream in the car.

It's a dumb rule.
Like taking off your shoes in public being trashy. Sure there are places that's not appropriate but stopping at a bench in view of other people to get a rock out of your shoe shouldn't be considered a social faux pas.
It's not the safest thing to do, and it would keep your car cleaner if you didn't. It's "trashy" because in her mind it's something a rich person would never have to do. Eating in your car probably means you didn't have the time for anything better and your mom has low self esteem and doesn't want people to think she's poor.
