Growing up, I realized that the people around me would never understand me because they simply didn't care or didn't have the time to listen to everything I'd been through. This led me to distance myself from supposed relationships (both friendships and family) that weren't truly supportive. Initially, I felt lonely and depressed because of this, but then I took the time to listen to myself, understand myself, and value myself so I wouldn't feel that desperate longing for a connection that, realistically, isn't found everywhere. I know many of us want support, to be heard and understood, but finding someone who offers it isn't entirely up to us. If you have the opportunity to talk to a professional, take it and find one you feel comfortable with. Try new hobbies and be kind to yourself.
